Well, it seems like it's a studio that doesn't shy away from niche titles that try to have their own flavor. That's as good a place for the Dark Souls crew as any I could think of.

While they can't make another Dark Souls game most likely, as Namco probably has the rights, they don't have to. Spiritual successor is exactly how we got Dark Souls.

hope this doesnt affect the development of PC ports
My concern right there. Japanese companies have a kind of, "what? people play games on the PC?" Sort of mentality. That being said, as their next game is probably going to be designed for next gen consoles and they've got porting experience now, I don't think there's a single reason why they wouldn't port their game and open up a new market for relatively little cost.

No! Why does this always happen. When companies merge, the way they make games changes drastically.

This means we will never get another good Dark Souls game, because they will never be the same now.

Dammit, money ruins everything.

Oh well.

Why do I feel like Dark Souls 3 will turn out to have sillier- more sexual bosses in the long run? It's not like Killer is Dead had some kinky things in it, did it?

Those were at the behest of Suda. So unless he happens to join From, I think our dreams of fighting a boss comprised of more boob than person won't be fully realized. :~)

I don't mind as long as we get the same From Software goodiness that is Dark Souls. I'm actually kinda stoked for this as I enjoy their games as well. Let's see where they go with this.

There's always the memories of Chaos With Quelaag, and the disturbingly high level of Priscilla fan art you can find on the web...

It's a nice change of pace to see a studio acquisition that not met with hostility. Then again, the publisher is home to Suda51

Hmmm, maybe now we might get an official import of the most [bandit_keith]AMERICAN[/bandit_keith] game ever made, Metal Wolf Chaos!
Oh god. Now you've gotten my hopes up. I must run to my American flag and pray to George Washington that this might happen

This probably works great for everyone, more money in Kadokawa´s pockets is great thing for future projects and From Software benefits from the creative freedom (And the fact that Kadokawa apparantly know what they are doing, since they keep publishing games that turns a profit despite having low sales and somewhat high production costs). I don´t think they could be working under a better publisher.
