Dark Souls. It's a game that totally consumed me when I thought that it would just be another filler for one of the mammoth titles to be released. The combat is far more intricate than what it seems to be at first, and it is truly a challenge to be had.

As for people saying Skyrim feels like a "living, breathing world"... Seriously? I thought one of the biggest critiques about the game was how utterly and painfully static it was. Nothing you did makes any difference to anything whatsoever. Apart from a generic, bland storyline and a bunch of sites to see, there isn't really that much unless you can make your own fun, in which case I would recommend a super-duper modded Morrowind or Oblivion > Skyrim.

Hard to choose. It's like the question of whether I prefer a small delectable plate or it's worth of a slightly less but still good thing that will be larger. I'm going to have to give it to Dark Souls on this one due to the things that more fun to kill than dragons. My only qualms with it are the balance issues of endgame weapons as to where in Skyrim you could be a master in whatever you like.

I'm going with Skyrim because I've never played Dark Souls, and I think Skyrim is a better game overall. If you ignore the bugs that come with creating a world as big as Skyrim, you can really appreciate how impressive it is that a game as big as Skyrim exists. It doesn't matter how challenging Dark Souls is, Skyrim's world is just awe inspiring.

I prefer Dark Souls because it does the things it tries to do, better. The combat, online play and the game-feel are great, and the minimalistic storytelling doesn't get in the way.

Skyrim has a huge world, which is nice, but the dialogues, quests and combat feel unfinished, and everything lacks significance, partially because you can just reload and do something else, instead of learning from your mistakes, or carefully thinking it through beforehand.

Skyrim is currently on PC. That alone makes t the superior game.

Ask this question again once Dark Souls gets ported to PC and I have played it instead of only knowing of it's gameplay and story through Zisteau's Let's Play on Youtube of it.
I don't know Star wars on VHS is still better than The green lantern on blu-ray.

so basically skyrim is better since you played it. gotcha
The demon I know over the demon I don't. Not a hard choice really. Even objectively, Skyrim is more the kind of game that I would like over Dark Souls.

How is that surprising? I prefer to live on the Earth then Mars I have never lived on Mars but I almost certain that I wouldn't like it. That may be a bad analogy but I fail to see how it is a surprise that people like what they know.

Dark Souls a hundred times over.

Dark souls is simply the better game all away around. Its only failing in its lacking story is more than made up for by all the other categories in which it is superior.

And this has any relevance for a discussion on gaming how?
That something good on a bad format is still better than something bad on a good format? You can't say something is simply better for being on one console or another. Is QWOP better than journey? They are both about getting form point A to point B, but nobody prizes QWOP an artistic expertise.

Dark Souls.

I was just totally in the game more than Skyrim.
I was really looking forward to Skyrim, not too much so I would spoil myself if it was bad, but as I said I was looking forward to it. It was great, but after I did basically everything, it just.. bored me, completely. There is nothing else for me to do. Infinite quests? They should have said infinite tasks that give you nearly nothing.

Dark Souls kept me playing to like New Game +++++, plus other characters.

Dark Souls isn't lacking a story in the slightest in my opinion, you just have to find it.
