So am I the only one looking forward to the spiritual successor to Demon's Souls?
I can't wait to get my hands on it in 3 days!
I've heard that it's supposed to be even harder, that's a positive thing in my opinion! What are your thoughts on the game in general?

It's a must have for me, since I'm a huge fan of Demon's Souls, will you get it?

I'm not, hard I don't mind but punishing I hate, replaying half an hour for every death is asinine and I just get bored.

I will get it...
Sometime. Still need to finish Demon's souls and Skyrim and Battlefield 3 are coming up.
And I will probably be away from home for 5 months. So, would not be able to play it.

And hopefully it will be a tad cheaper :)

Had it pre-ordered for months now.

She will try to beat me, but it will be me, who triumphs.

My body is ready.

I already have it, it arrived in the mail a week ago :)

I still need to defeat the second boss(Taurus Demon), but that's because he keeps knocking me off the edge of where I'm fighting him.(ignoring the times I rolled off the edge myself...)

The game does need more perfection than Demons Souls, especially in the beginning because enemies do a lot more damage.

That sounds awesome. How much do you enjoy it compared to Demon's Souls?

Approaching Demon's Souls with a certain kind of mindset can make for a very rewarding experience. The game certainly punishes impatience, unpreparedness, and ignorance; and the opening few hours are probably the most brutal. However, once you become accustomed to what the game expects of you, you'll cut down on the number of deaths and the frustration that comes with it.

I think the biggest mistake that people make when going into the game, is treating the game's levels as a linear progression of events; and death, as a strict roadblock to that progression. Everything is open for exploration, and it's often useful to go into a new area to track down new items and equipment, die, and then use the new gear to help you elsewhere. I think it's worth another look for those that thought it a bit too frustrating at first.

As for Dark Souls....based on what I've seen of it....it isn't Demon's Souls. So I can't really say if the same rules apply. I agree, genuine challenge is rewarding, but arbitrary difficulty is beyond frustrating. Hopefully we aren't getting a AAA equivalent to "I wanna be the guy".

... Could not have made it sound more epic if I planned my post out for a week.

God damn.

Clarion, you win. Seriously. Forever.

Have it pre-ordered, and can't wait to play it.

I have seen a few reviews/previews saying the difficulty is unforgiving and very "trial and error". But, so was the first game, so I'm not bothered :)

Really looking forward to see how the covenants will work, and how much of a game changer they are.

Oh, you smooth talker, you.

But we must remain frosty, for Dark Souls feasts on the unwary.

Actually, the game was a JRPG disguised as an action game, so it wasn't all that hard but rather grind focused (meaning you were supposed to judge where to stop and grind before moving on rather than try to play a level through on the first try).

I still don't get why people think the game was so hard. Yes, the first level where you can't level is a *****, but throughout the rest of the game you're given tons of different ways to earn yourself the advantage.

I've got to get in on this, and i'm not just talking about the conversation; Dark Souls too.

Word choice is key, but the use of separate lines for separate thoughts is what truly sets the bar.

I hope you're hungry, for tonight we dine in hell.

I am!

I've had it pre-ordered for a long time now, and I'm ready to jump in and I will make it my mission to not die as much as I did in Demon's Souls.

But I think I might fail in that aspect, but I'll be damned if I let that game beat me!

I had to give Demon's Souls back before I could finish it. When I can afford it, I'll just buy it, then finish it, then get Dark Souls and get pwned by it. I'm pretty excited, just not in a position to rush to the store and get it immediately.

I wasn't interested before - but damn am I interested now. It's getting rave reviews and seems like just the thing I need to break out of the types of games that I have been playing for the last year or so.
Go for it.

The game is only unforgiving if you treat it like a hack and slash game.

Observation is your biggest weapon, recognising patterns, seizing the right moment to strike.

Keep an eye on your sourroundings and traps will have a hard time killing you.

The game rewards those who take care.

I enjoyed the difficulty of Demons Souls a lot more, but Dark Souls wins slightly in every other area. But I guess I'm only saying this because Demons Souls was a bit more predictable and easier because of it.(but I guess that'll change as I play Dark Souls more)

When I have monies I will be picking it up. Haven't played Demon's Souls myself, but this title looks like an interesting challenge.

I got my copy in hand right now, but I just moved and won't have internet until the 9th. Do you guys think I should play it without a net connection, or just wait until my internet is connected? I feel like I'll be missing out on a good part of the game without internet.
