Besides, didn?t Bayonetta also wear high heels? Can?t recall anyone ever knocking her for it. I think the only thing they could?ve done better with Fury?s choice of footwear is make them elemental and ignite like her hair for specials, or have a retractable/extendable spike in the heel for stabbing demons.
Darksiders isn't a normal fantasy. And by that I'll assume that you mean a Tolkienesque type of fantasy. It's absurdly stylized fantasy about biblical creatures. There was nothing practical about War and his huge armor and enormous sword and there was nothing practical about Death's skeleton mask and his scythes. Practicality takes a backseat in these games.Dalisclock said:High Heels don't normally exist in fantasy to begin with, which makes it extra dumb, really. But for me it's the fact that literally any other footwear would be more practical for, well, anything.
High heels are often considered worn by women wanting to feel more secure in being taller and therefore more "sexy." Most certainly not for comfort or practicality...now why would an essentially immortal godlike being have any insecurity about how attractive they look? Maybe we could add a bit of glittery pink lipstick and blush to impress her male peers in this post apocalyptic supernatural revenge story? A padded bra too?Adam Jensen said:Darksiders isn't a normal fantasy. And by that I'll assume that you mean a Tolkienesque type of fantasy. It's absurdly stylized fantasy about biblical creatures. Missing the point. When a game is stylized in such a way, it's not for the character it's for the player. But even if it was for her, do you think that women can't dress up in ridiculous outfits because they personally like it?Your Creator said:High heels are often considered worn by women wanting to feel more secure in being taller and therefore more "sexy." Well then you aren?t thinking fantastically enough. I?ve seen quite a few movies for example where a woman uses her heels as a weapon. I just don?t see the problem. We?re talking about magical human-like beings who ride horses during the apocalypse. She has hair that?s on fire...high heels aren?t breaking the illusion.Agent_Z said:hanselthecaretaker said:It?s a fantasy video game with a ?badass? chic. Of course she needs high heels. They did knock Bayonetta for wearing heels. Among other things. That it's common among video game females doesn't make it any less dumb.
And I don't know about you, but when I look at a woman in heels, my thoughts aren't that she could kill me.
Putting aside how impractical heels are as weapons, nothing indicates she'll be using heels as weapons in this game.hanselthecaretaker said:Well then you aren?t thinking fantastically enough. Dictating what real life women wear and pointing out how dumb it is for a warrior to be wearing heels are two different things.Wintermute said:Those complaining about her high heels apparently want to dictate what women should or shouldn't wear. That's pretty sexist and problematic.
Even if they aren?t used as weapons, high heels mainly serve the purpose here of enhancing her sassy feminine image (hence why War and Death weren?t wearing them, and why would they?). A lot of men take notice when they see a chick in heels, and women dig the fashion statement side of it. If a chick played the game she might be thinking, ?I?d love to be able to kick ass in heels like that!?Agent_Z said:Putting aside how impractical heels are as weapons, nothing indicates she'll be using heels as weapons in this game.hanselthecaretaker said:Well then you aren?t thinking fantastically enough. By that logic, why weren't Death and War wearing heels?

The long flowing hair, boob armor and kilt that shows of her legs don?t do that already?hanselthecaretaker said:Even if they aren?t used as weapons, high heels mainly serve the purpose here of enhancing her sassy feminine image.
She?s a woman with orange skin and waist-length hair dressed in armor and can combust. She does not need heels to get people?s attention and unless she plans on seducing her opponents, I fail to see why she?d need the heels.hanselthecaretaker said:A lot of men take notice when they see a chick in heels,

It is being incredibly generous to these game developers to assume characters like this are designed to appeal to women.
People can wear what they want. I'm still not convinced wearing high heels into battle isn't counterintuitive and doesn't look stupid.Wintermute said:Those complaining about her high heels apparently want to dictate what women should or shouldn't wear. That's pretty sexist and problematic.
Well when you consider War, that's a pretty low bar to surpass.Agent_Z said:* Fury will be the most developed of the protagonists thus far.
