Darn You, Victini: unable to catch them all

Same situation as you dude. Only I'm in Rural Vermont. And the nearest town is an hour away, and nothing there has a wireless connection thats compatible with Nintendo WFC.

And I can't do it at home because my connection is WPA, instead of WEP that the older DS's use. And no, I will not buy a new DS just so I can get some pokemon. And I will not buy a 3DS for about a year. Nothing against the system, I just have a rule of not buying any system until 1 year after release. That way it should have a decent selection of games, and most big kinks will have been found.

But still, it fucking sucks man.

If you have Wifi I might trade you an event legendary dog. I got 3 of each.

Do those only work once? Or do they carry the special code or whatever activates the event with them always?

Only once but I got ones that have not did the event. I got them all with my Diamond, HG and SS

They dropped the "Gotta catch 'em all" slogan a long time ago, and with good reason. There's no need to feel obligated to get a pokemon for the sake of getting a pokemon, and if you really really want it, trade for it or go get an action replay. Does getting a pokemon from an AR really make it any more or less personal than through the actual event?

No Nintendo WFC means I can't get Victini for Pokemon Black.

You have a few options.

Less savoury: Drive/walk around. Residential areas are more likely than campuses to have unsecured wireless. Also, if you have a computer and some means of getting brief enough access to download a couple of small tools (tethering a smartphone for instance), it's very, very easy to break WEP, usually in a handful of minutes. But your best options are probably:

More savoury: Find some nerds on campus with their own wireless. Or find (or wait, I'm not sure if one exists for Black/White yet) a mystery gift emulator that you can use to give yourself the required item.

Also on topic. This is not the last Victini event, don't sweat it, he has some signature moves to be released which will be in another event.

And since the Shiny Victini is in no way obtainable in game I bet they will release a shiny one via event.

100 in every stat with a nice type combination and a ton of moves is really close to being one of the best.

You cannot get a bad nature on Victini.

I would just use an AR, aside from nintendo tournaments, all the online battle communities allow hacked or cloned pokemon so long as their stats are reasonable and within the constraints of what it would be legally allowed.

It's just easier because it allows you to create the team you want to battle with rather than relying on luck or attending certain events, otherwise builds that use legendaries with certain natures and hidden powers would be impossible, thee odds of you getting a pokemon with the correct nature AND IVs for the hidden power you want are a million to one, so just hack it up.
