Gravity is still a theory, technically.
Nope, it's a law.
Even if someone doesn't believe in it? I'm pretty sure I could come up with some crazy idea to replace gravity. Like a bunch of fairies pushing us down onto the ground so we don't fly off.
Hey, how dare you mock the Theory of Fairy Pull!
Fairy Push > Fairy Pull
IMO, of course.
Well sir, I don't know what school you went to (cough Brown cough) but us rational individuals say it's the Law of Fairy Pull. It's just too logical, and makes too much sense, and you are an idiot hillbilly if you do not believe it :p
You sir, are a blind man. There's been tests done to PROVE that fairies DO INFACT push us onto the ground. I suppose you also think that Centaurs make the world rotate! :B

I'm sorry, banhammer, but the types of threads you've started indicates you are a troll. In fact, anyone who makes a religion thread is either a troll or an idiot who likes arguing. I don't know if you are accidently being like this or on purpose, but you had better stop before you are reported. I'm trying to say this as kindly as I possibly can.

If you did not like these threads so much you would not have even opened it to begin with. You would have skipped right over it and not thought twice about it. Instead you opened it, read the posts, and typed you own. That means on some level you like threads like this and join in the arguing you post saying you want to go away.

Theory of evolution made by observation and critical deduction aka scientific method VS. beliefs written down a dozen centuries ago by goatherders who thought the stars were nailed to the sky because they didn't fall down.

When the answer obvious, it is no longer necessary to discuss it.

End it here.

*yawn* You people need to know when religion threads are no longer wanted. The people who start religion threads are just trolls who want to argue over it. Now please, enough of them. I'm so sick and tired of people just making these pointless threads just to bash on thesists. I'm tired of being flamed for what I believe in. If you don't want to be called a troll, then don't make a religion thread. If you're just making one just to get a high view thread, then you need to get a life. I realise that the Escapist is a place for all opinions, but each and every religion thread turns into a thesist bashing flame war. At least half of the off topic threads are about religion, and it's getting tiring. Now, please, end this thread.
You are wasting your time.
He actually is a troll.
The name, the stupid OP, the other threads...
It's pretty much a fact.

That, or he is incredibly ignorant.
Ignorance is bliss.
I think [a href=http://www.escapistmagazine.com/forums/read/18.109684#1882648] this[/a] thread has some interesting points about the whole ignorance is bliss theroy

IMO, if you think ignorance is bliss, you're just too lazy to think.

Of course Centaurs don't make the world rotate, what am I, an illiterate Welshmen? Instead, as we all know, Minotaurs running on treadmills power a giant gear which then makes the world turn! And those tests mean nothing, I have this book here, completely uncited and quite biased, that proves fairies indeed pull instead of push!

Wouldukindly would like to apologize to all Welshmen. In reality, they are quite literate. They fuck sheep, but they are quite literate.

Yes I'm trying to derail this topic as quickly as possible. And yes I'm going to do it for every Creationism vs. Evolution thread made after this.
Fairies, pfffft, please, its the flying spaghetti monster fools. You know NOTHING NOTHING. Scholars around the world agree that it is his spaghetti tentacles that hold us in place. Bother these forums no more with your treacherous, blasphemous ramblings of a mental ward.

Can some one please make a Fairy Push Pull Theary Thread, I think this has the potential to be a new religion completely based in non-sense, aka just like all other religions.

At least we agree on the Minotaur theory. But you forget that book's publisher's second-granddaughter's cousin's brother-in-law's uncle's sister's boyfriend's best friend's neighbor was part Welsh.

Also, do you know what AKA means, because I don't think it means what you think it means.

LOLWUT. The Egyptian God of the Sun disproved that by solving the ancient Rubik's Cube seventh dimension fireball spell puzzle fair. Get a rhinoceros, and come back to the REAL world.

Remember, the earth orbiting the sun... is also still a theory.
Nah, the dwarves built rockets and strapped it to the sides of the Triangular Prism-shaped Earth and made it fly around the Shining Golden Gerber baby. It was a recent discovery. Lemme see if I can find that article...

Please, everyone knows that story is based on pudding and curmudgeons. Only dated prudes and pruned dates still believe that old wives tale. If you could please enter this cantalope and listen to logic you would see. Also, rhinoceros do not exist; I wish you could keep this discussion at least in the realm of sanity.

you are mistaken my friend; there are two things here:

Newton's law of universal gravitation - The law
Theory of Gravity - the theory that the above law is actually the explanation of what is referred to as gravity.
Actually the "Theory of gravity" was the general name given to Newton's theory of gravitation, which was tested and confirmed and so became Newton's law of universal gravitation.
I'll believe gravity is a proven theory, but is it a proven constant? If it could be manipulated somehow (or has been in the past), such a thing might explain the existence of the pyramids or the Coral Castle more readily. I'm not very scientifically-minded, but it seems to me just possible. I don't subscribe to the school of thought that ancient people were any stupider than we are. I think they were exactly as stupid. We went from anvils to Internet in a few hundred years, no reason to think the Egyptians or someone else could have discovered something about gravity we don't know.

This is stupid. Science vs. Religion could never work, both of them are based on theory.
