Darwyn Cooke, celebrated comic writer and artist, passed away overnight from cancer. Cooke is best known for his work on DC: The New Frontier and Catwoman.

"Palliative care" essentially means "hospice care;" care intended to provide comfort to a dying patient without treating the disease killing him. The type of cancer he had is, as far as I know, undisclosed.
