I suppose this would go in games discussion, if not, I hope it can be moved.

Anyways, after looking through the forums and searching aplenty. I think a small thread that allows the community to make suggestions and other stuff about the Xbox Live Dashboard update. I know it already has a dedicated thread on Featured Content, but it really doesn't prompt talking about this, that and I'll keep a tally or such of suggestions.

All on good speculation, monday can't come fast enough. Hopefully you've seen the preview and know what I'm talking about, if not, here is a link: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/videos/view/the-escapist-presents/842-Preview-Xbox-Dashboard-Update

Suggestions for...

Marketplace stuff:(Such as clothes, shoes, glasses, rings/earrings that don't look as goofy)

Award items from games: (Spartan armor, Splinter Cell NVG's, CoD Helmets/Clothes)

Lifestyles: (Steampunk, techno, classy, pimp)

Thoughts: (Your thoughts on the update.)

I like the rating system. Now i don't have to wonder if something is good or not before i waste time/bandwidth/memory space downloading it.

Hmm I don't know about the whole rating system. It seems like a good idea in theory but I hope it doesn't replace XBL and XNA demos.

The whole you can buy crap for your avatar I can't stand. I had hopes it would be tied to specific achievements (like if you beat Halo on Legendary you get the RC Warthog). To appease both sides I would have preferred to see it work both ways. If you can't stand Halo but think the RC Warthog is the best thing ever you can buy it. Or if you are a Halo master you can earn it instead.

The rest doesn't matter to me as long as I am not paying 60 bucks a year for a bunch of ads to clog up my premium theme. It is already bad enough if I start seeing McDonalds ads I am going to silver.

Its just putting "I like this alot" or "its not all that great" in the form of stars. Basically it would say: "Most people who played/used this really liked it" or vice versa.

The problem isn't with the system, its the people. And how seriously MS itself will take this. Say someone makes a Halo arcade game. The design sucks, the graphics make your eyes bleed and people will still give it 5 stars. MS sees the 5 stars and then starts basing more games based on this design. That is my big worry.

That is a good point. I dont think they would do that, but if it gets the more money... Let's just hope people will actually think about the ratings they give things, even if its unlikely to happen.

Yeah they look cool, but it just seems like Micro$oft wanting more money for stuff that should be free.
They should just make ALL of the items unlockable through playing the game, such as a special item for completing the game on the highest difficulty.. so that your avatar reflects your gaming skill, rather than how much money you're wilkling to waste.
