I have an upcoming date with a girl who's also a gamer (score!), and I was thinking along the lines of an evening of pizza and gaming. It's not a first date.

It got me thinking; you know how there are good 'date movies', are there good 'date games'? My initial thought was something like Mario Kart or Smash Bros due to potentially elevated levels of hilarity.

Thoughts?

Borderlands.

Save her from a pack of skags and she will be in your bed in no time :D

Don't give her the best guns though, save those bad boys for yourself.

play games from genres you both enjoy (e.g. if you both like FPSs, play Halo together), introduce her to your favorite games that she hasn't played yet, or her favorite game
but for specific games, Mario Party, Rock Band, Saints Row 2
hope it helps!

Now there's an idea! Thanks! :D

Why don't you ask her what game she'd like to play? Pretty simple.
True. I might be overcomplicating things.

Fool proof. And do it during a storm too.

And have your house near a forest.
Fuck what I said. Play Alan Wake.

EDIT: EVEN IF SHE ISN'T THERE.

Because Alan Wake is amazing.

Alan Wake <3

I'de say anything "immersive" enough that you both feel your "in" the game instead of just sitting on a couch, I haven't played borderlands but the suggestion sounds good.

Two computers, playing minecraft should be good. Imagine building a log cottage in the mountains, creating and destroying together.

Buuut, being on the same couch is probably best. Pretty much anything coop that isn't crap should work.

I'd definitely vote for something co-op over something versus.

Edit: I also expected this to be a dating sim thread. I'm sorely disappointed.

Yeah something you won't get raged at, arcadey esque games. I think good ole guitar hero and such would be your best friend.

I'd say tetris or possibly minesweeper, but that's because I usually date myself..

But yeah, I think you've got a pretty good idea with some light game that lighten up the mood. It's always bonding to laugh together.

Perhaps DeathSpank if you both like parody and sarcasm and has played a fair share of RPG games : ) And don't worry about the name, it's not naughty or anything like that, it's just really funny. It's only single player though..
