Quick question to you guys, do you feel weird dating a girl who's a lot shorter than you? I'm over six foot, so I tend to feel strange about going out with a girl who's around 5 foot. Is it everybody, or just me? Should I look for taller girls?

Well, why do you feel weird about it? "I just do" is not a valid response.

Realize that if you get with an equally tall chick, you'll only confound the problem for your potential daughters. One of my uncles is about 6'5", his wife is a tall woman at about 5'10". Their daughter is 6'2". On the upside, she'll never have to wear heels to feel taller.

One of the perks of same sex relationships is that everyone gravitates to the same height, though oddly I prefer guys taller or shorter. The shortest guy I've been with was probably 5'6.5".

I'm right about at 6 feet (5'11"), and my girlfriend's 5'2. I've always gone for shorter girls, like under 5'4" type shorter girls. Makes some things a bit awkward (sex standing up, friendly basketball games, anything I've ever put in the kitchen at my own eye level when she wants to use it), but on the whole there ain't a damn thing wrong with it.

Same here. I tend to like... how should I put this...petite girls more. Though I'm not really on the dating scene here though (I have bigger priorities).

Height shouldn't be a problem unless your back hurts from constantly craning down to kiss her or something. I'm 5'4 which is a pretty average height for a girl, and although it's a bit uncomfortable for me, at least physically, to be with anyone taller than 6'2 or so, I wouldn't let it get in the way of a relationship if I liked him.

You can get around it in many ways. Stairs, walls, chairs...and although I haven't tested this with anyone abnormally tall yet, apparently it all lines up horizontally. Which is a comfort. Besides, better to be taller than your girlfriend than shorter than her, not that it matters either. I personally like taller guys - makes me feel protected. Although I'd be hard put to find a guy shorter than me.

Im 5 foot 11, so im pretty im in the small to medium hieght catagory, the smallest girl i've dated has been about say 5 foot 3, i didn't think it was wierd. I liked being taller than her and she like it too.

I would find it wierd to date a girl who is taller than me though.

Haha I don't care how tall someone is. I'm 5 foot 5 so in heels, I'm taller than quite a few guys. It never seems to bother them!

I've got no real problem with shorter (or taller for that matter) women. I'm about 5'10" and my girlfriend is 5'9", so there isn't much space between us, but I wouldn't care is she was taller or shorter. lol I might even find it hot if she was taller.

Taller girls can be somewhat intimidating. Something most guys don't want. (I guess they want to be on the more dominant side of the relationship.) Smaller girls are easily mistaken as underaged. (Of course there are exceptions.)

I always go for guys who're taller than me, though these days, it's getting difficult. When I was 5ft 6 and below, it was a scoosh. Now I'm beginning to surpass all the 16-18 year old guys i know.

I love being the shorter one in a relationship, or at least short enough so that to kiss him I have to stand on my tip-toes or he has to lift me up. I find that really cute. It's rare for me now though.

For me, it isn't. So it's an absolute on my part.

However, if those two reasons are not convincing on your part, than I say go for it. It won't matter than.

If I were to date a guy, I would enjoy him being taller than me, but if they're shorter than me it wouldn't change whether or not I wanted to date them.

As for women, I prefer them shorter, so I feel all, erm, I don't know. I just like being the taller one. Generally I end up with a girl who's the same height though.

I don't really think it should ever be an issue though, unless there was a significant height difference, especially between a male/female relationship - sex could be a little awkward? I could be wrong here, based more on an assumption than experience.

My girlfriend's below average, and I am about 6' 2''. I'm just about a whole head taller than her, but I don't really believe it matters. I have thought about that problem before, but it really doesn't matter.
