How the hell do you stop a Baneblade? Those things just roll over anything that defies them. Makes the Avatar look like a punk and the Space Marines tank a lil' pipsqueak.
Indeed I'm having trouble figuring out how I'm supposed to counter the Imperial Guard. Between the tanks and the sheer numbers, beating a player who knows how to use them is difficult. Sure, get close and they're toast. Guardsmen are useless at melee and really the IG only have 1 decent melee unit I've noticed! But it's getting close that's the problem, especially once the IG player has hit that 'critical mass' stage where just looking at em causes em to fill your screen with shooting and explosions.
You might somewhat like my style with the Inquisitor at least. It's very aggressive compared to the defeinsive strategies the Imperial Guard are more suited to. I think I really confused a Chaos player once when my Inquisitor and guardsmen squad charged head on into his Chaos space marines early game, so surprised that he had to withdraw them!
Baneblade is definitely a force to contend with, but it can be taken down if you have enough armor of your own on your side. An Ork battlewagon and 1 (though preferably 2) looted tank can take Baneblade on pretty well, as can any amount of predators and other medium tanks. The trick though, is to get in close and melee Baneblade, as it's abilities cannot be fired up close and it takes more damage when meleed in the rear armor. That said though,
never launch an attack on Baneblade that isn't well supported. Baneblade can easily make short work of one squad and, if it gets the first shot of, one predator style tank, using its demolisher and main cannon. As if the rest of its guns bearing down on you was bad enough...just make sure Baneblade has too many targets to fire at at once, and they are spread out. You will take it down.
