I searched around but no one has made a topic about this yet, so i thought i would.

www.dawnofwar2.com

I didn't even realise this was being developed until recently.

Hopefully they don't botch it this time with another Soulstorm-esque memory sink with poorly designed races. The zones/maps look pretty well done too, kinda reminds me of Diablo III.

Below is a close-up of a Warboss, the graphics look a lot better than Dawn of War 1.

So what i want to ask is, are you guys as keen for this game as me? Did you like Dawn of War 1 and it's expansions? Oh, and check out the trailer, it's pretty badass.

I'm still playing Dark Crusade, so yes: I'm looking forward to the sequel. The new gameplay looks interesting, and I can't wait to see how it plays.

Yes, I have my reservations, but I'll remain starry eyed until they're gouged out.

I've heard about it, and its shift from a 'C&C' type-ish RTS to a 'Ground Control'-ish type of game. Which is good! :) Or possibly a Company of Heroes RTS

I played the original DoW when it first came out, but never got into the multiplayer side of it.

It was good fun back then so I'm looking forward to this one, especially now its got Tyranids!

Company of heroes is made by the same people who made DoW and I've heard DoW2 is using an updated version of the CoH engine.

If they incorporate all the developments that they made in gameplay for Company of Heroes it will rock.

If it's just DoW with an extra race and better graphics I will leave it alone.
Indeed on all counts. But it won't be DoW with prettier graphics. They've stated that it'll be a limited squad system, with experience and equipment variations between the squads (not sure if, for example, a vetern heavy squad will have better equipment than a green one).

Really? I didn't know they were going the whole hog ;) I did hear you could get/purchase upgrades to the battle barge in orbit - like battlefield 'powers'

Do they mean like heavy weapons will become there own squads like with Mortars and MGs in CoH rather than upgrades to existing squads as in DoW?

Yup, thats what I read in an interview - it'll be a squad system like CoH, but probably more like Ground Control.

EDIT:
Have a lookie at:
http://community.dawnofwar2.com/main.php

Has a picture of the new campaign system.

The fact that the single player campaign is now space-marine only is kinda lame... and I liked base building!

I'm sure it will be decent fun in it's own worth, but I would have honestly preferred it to stay true to the original. Who knows, maybe the multiplayer will be a surprise hit.

The graphics aren't a huge improvement in my opinion. They mostly just look sharper. I've also heard that there's no Chaos in this one which is dissapointing as they were my favorite to play.
As far as I'm aware, the only races officially announced are the Marines, the Orks, the Eldar, and the Tyranid.

I'd be surprised, even shocked, if they didn't include the existing races from the previous Dawn of War.

As for graphics, they do look alot better to me.

And it was prophesised, on the sixth day, by our Lord, that Dawn of War II, shall come down from heaven, robed in white, and cleanse us of our RTS sins.

I cannot wait. Literally, I can't wait. They're going to have to hurry or I'll start burning something.

...might not be a fan of that. I quite liked the base building and resource control of DoW1.

I'll reserve my judgement until I play it, fucking love that they're bringing Tyranids into it finally. I really liked DoW1 and I hope that this game can keep up the high standards of the first.
