Starcraft 2. Played the campaign two times. First on hard, then on brutal difficulty with achievements. Starcraft 2 achievements are usually quite nice achievements because they add something to your missions (such as "Do this mission without letting the enemy capture any of the "things" you and your enemy both have to capture").

Dawn of War is INCREDIBLY repetitive. It is worse than farming in WoW. That said, I bought it and played it for 2 hours till I had it figured out, then it was boring.

Dawn of War is no RTS, there is no macro (basebuilding, ressource management etc.) only some micro (I want my machine gun that kills everything HERE).
Really didn't like it. Dawn of War 1 was way way waaaay better.

You seem like much more of hardcore RTS player than me, so you would probably prefer Starcraft over Dawn of War.
You seriously overestimate me if you think I'm a hardcore RTS player, and I think DoW would appeal to me for exactly the same reasons it appeals to you.
I tend to do that. I think I meant hardcore as in "you play more RTS games than I do." I play shooters mostly, so I'm probably one of the worst RTS players out there.

To the OP: Do NOT listen to that guy. Soulstorm was horribly balanced, added shitty gameplay mechanics and was bugged up the arse.
I do believe that's the first time I've ever heard anyone say something was too balanced...or does "horribly balanced" equate to "not balanced enough?"

I meant the balancing was horrid. You could steamroll the entire map with a few Sororitas walker vehicles, whereas you were basically fucked if your Space Marines happened upon Chaos forces on one of those god-awful 'Hold the Gate' levels.

wait you start out saying the game is pretty weak storywise and then go AND OMG EXPANSIONS WITH MOAR MISSIONS CAUSE STORY BE AWESOME
my head hurt there :3
That's my struggle with the english language. The first 'story' should have related to writing and narrative while the second one was supposed to mean tale or saga. Hope that clears it up.

Dawn of War II isn't really a traditional RTS, it actually plays to me like an action/RPG. It's great though, but it really isn't great as an RTS. I don't particularly like Starcraft II then again I never liked Starcraft much to begin with, so I'm a bit biased.

I have to say Starcraft 2 is my favourite RTS. The only things coming close are Starcraft 1 and Warcraft 3, Blizzard are phenominal RTS makers. I haven't played Dawn of War 2 but I have played the first one and honestly it's alright, no more no less. It's neither as fast paced nor as complex as Starcraft.
