I haven't been able to play it, in fact this is the first time i have heard that the bata is playable. Anyway what can you tell me about the other armies, what kind of new units do they get and what do you think of them.
I have not played as any other army aside from the IG but I can tell you that the Eldar have one new unit, the Autarch. It resembles the Harlequin in combat style but other than that I don't know much beyond that fact that it is quite the annoying unit...

Yeah there are a lot of tweaks to be done for sure. IMO the Ork Wierdboy needs... something. Don't know what, but he seems absolutely not worth it for his cost, utility and survivability. However I'll admit his auto attack is pretty damn annoying.

Likewise the guard heavy weapons teams seem like something I'd never buy. I'd rather save up for the Catachan Devils.
I actually have not tried the Catachan Devils yet, I get by pretty well with a good force of guardsmen with good armor support. I am still testing possible army makeups though so we will see how it goes. AS long as the Inquisitor is at the head of my army, it works out anyways :p

It's nearly impossible to kill the damn thing, since it can just leap then Fleet of Foot away. The deep strike explosion thing it does when summoned is also really annoying lol.

Yeah the tooltip for them says they're "good in melee". I don't really know why you would ever bring them into melee lol.

My Inquisitor can kill one very quickly. It usually eats up all 4 active powers at once, but it works...and man is it nice to burn me some Eldar :p

Is Relic still having the balancing issues it did since DoW: Vanilla?

I'd say it's certainly better than what DoW2 used to be. I remember patch 1.3.2 where an SM player just needed to get 2 ASM squads to destroy an Eldar army.

I actually just finished one more long battle, found a good army makeup that I am willing to test further. I have it led by the Inquisitor (surprise surprise), 2 guardsmen (each with sergeants), 1 Manticore, 1 Catachan squad (with engineer and whatever the other dude was), and enough leftover for either a stormtrooper squad or other small squad of men.

I destroyed the Eldar army once Baneblade was added to the mix but even before that I even gained some ground with those Catachan's supporting my Chaos Sorcerer ally and the artillery helping my other infantry. The Inquisitor is great at killing any Eldar hero unit.

No offense to the IG fans, I don't know why the heck they have included IG, cuz every game I have played including them, they have just been cannon-feed........

Have they balanced it enough so that they aren't cannon-feed at all?

But, just to ask, if they are going to release a new expansion of DOW2 in the future(after Retribution), which race would you guys have wished to be in that one? :D myself I wish they could include either Tau or Necron.

What is wrong with that? They have shit infantry and amazing armor to make up for it. I would hardly call them 'cannon-feed'.

I would love to see Tau though. Necrons...not so much. Though having them in there would bring the total number of races to 8...

Imperial Guard is pretty damn awesome with good leaders and a lot of tanks, just because the regular infantryman is armed with the 40k equivalent of a flashlight doesn't mean they universally suck.

If they make another expansion they should add the Tau, but they may need to change the Fire Warriors from being like fixed artillery emplacements into more mobile infantry. That said a Necron campaign would be damn awesome if done properly.

Ok I agree, they don't suck so much, but I agree with that they use flashlights as guns xD but to be honest they have been "cannon-feed" every match I have seen including them (without adding Retribution, cuz I haven't played it yet, and I can't play it cuz of my retarded Vista that WON'T DIE! xD

The difficulty is keeping your armor alive long enough.
That usually involves a bunch of infantry repairing the tanks.
And since the infantry cannot be reinforced in battle...

Their infantry are not meant to be much more than fodder really...just a distraction for Baneblade to get a good shot off.

I really liked the beta, only played one IG game so far and I love them already, stormtroopers and the devils look awesome, the tanks are pretty good as well, the only problem is the same one from dow1..

IG have no jump units or melée walkers, this means you need that hearty combination of infantry and tanks to do anything..

Also, loving the fact that they openly advise you to use sentinels to gib/kite melée units, made me lol..

The Fluff really serves to give IG a bad name. They are hardly just "cannon fodder" to drown enemies in bodies while Astartes go in and do the real work. They are trained soldiers who are, pound for pound, just as effective as any other army. Taking it in perspective: you have them compared against 8' tall superhumans, war-bred alien thugs, planet-devouring ravagers and centuries-lived psychic warlocks... I'd say the dudes with the "flashlights" do ok for themselves.

Just because the Imperium is not shy to throw away human life cheaply to accomplish its goals does not mean every (or even most) IG regiments are completely expendable, what logistical sense would that make; you win wars by using regiments which are admittedly useless and ineffective in battle? Assume DoW2 is following a unit which benefits from the same invulnerable save plot armor Gaunt's Ghosts do :p

finally got to play, I like it but I don't think it, at least not for its multi. I only ever played Last Stand because I am not very good at the multi. As for the SP... I am not so keen on SP, not that its bad I just found it boring kind of. DoW2 was good until I started to have to go through the same levels again (never beat it due to loss of data). Did Choas Rising (which I have) fix this in its SP?
