I would say yes, but I love the game. It depends how much you personally like it I would say. The expansion isn't too radical from the rest of the game. There's some interesting new environments and a relatively interesting story, and it will last you a decent while if you don't just speed through it (I think they claim it's around 20 hours). Basically if you really love Skyrim already then it's worth it. If not then the price is probably a bit of a stretch. It'll be fun, but maybe not £14 worth of fun. Then again you can buy shorter and far less enjoyable games for £40.endtherapture said:Is it worth £14 or should I just wait for the GOTYE of Skyrim?
Considering I paid £20 for Skyrim on it's own for 100 hours of play, is it worth it? Will I get an extra 75 hours out of it?Scrustle said:Well that was unceremonious. They say they're not even announcing anything and then it suddenly shows up without warning? Whatever, it's good it was released.

I guess Bethesda's marketing is like the guy who pretends to forget his wife's birthday, just so he completely surprise. A high risk, but high rewards if done right.Krantos said:I do think it's funny.
They kept saying "We have no plans! We'll release it when we release it! Stop Asking!"
Then BAM! There is it. No warning, no fanfare. Just there.
Odd marketing choice there....![]()
It's always Winter somewhere!Adam Jensen said:It just appeared out of nowhere. I'm not gonna play Skyrim for a while so I may as well wait for the price to drop. I don't like playing Skyrim in the summer. It's a game best played in the winter IMO.
Lol if it wasn't for this thread I wouldn't have even of known...thanks OP ^^Saviordd1 said:They really made no big deal out of that didn't they? Just sorta like "Yup, there it is"
That said, I take back all the bad things I said about Bethesda
Trust me, while it is pretty awesome, you can wait for GOTYE Skyrim. It will be awesome while you play it but you can easily bide your time for a cheaper version.endtherapture said:Is it worth £14 or should I just wait for the GOTYE of Skyrim?
To be fair, this isn't the last expansion that Bethesda is making for Skyrim. Plus, judging by the scale of this expansion (so I've heard, I haven't actually played it), and Bethesda usually saves thier most ambitious expansion for last, there is a good chance that there will be at least one amazing Skyrim expansion.ComradeJim270 said:I don't see any reason to buy it. Morrowind and Oblivion both had expansions that really offered a new and interesting experience. Oblivion's was so good that it got me playing the game again even though I didn't care for the rest of it. From what I've heard, Dawnguard doesn't do the same for Skyrim and I don't have any interest in purchasing it.
There's still a lot of the content in Skyrim I haven't explored and I haven't yet found the right combination of mods to make the game fun enough to play that I'd want to, so more content doesn't really appeal. Maybe if I can solve that problem, I'll grab Dawnguard at some point in the future when it's much, much cheaper.
Have they actually confirmed another expansion? It wouldn't surprise me. What would pleasantly surprise me is if it turned out to be, as you said "amazing". I don't think it's out of the question but people said Skyrim itself was amazing and I remain very much un-amazed with it.ohnoitsabear said:To be fair, this isn't the last expansion that Bethesda is making for Skyrim. On-topic: while I'm glad they released it on PC, I have absolutely no iterest in picking it up. Mostly, this is because I have no interest in playing Skyrim again, but I'm sure that will change. When it does, maybe I'll see about picking it up.
