They took out Side chat and the Direct comms is now working again by the way.GenericAmerican said:Your preaching to the choir buddy. I ran with 5 other people, we had a 10 tent base. Me and a friend ran overwatch with a DMR and M107, if one of us died. Not only did we have replacement gear sitting at base, but a 20 minute detour to a place like Berizino, could net you military weapons before even getting back to camp.lRookiel said:They did fix the FFA thing (Sort of) by giving everyone flashlights instead of makarovs when players spawn, giving players a chance to actually make friends in the starting areas and creating a less hostile environment, I had 2 people come up to me the other day seeking refuge since I had a gun and they didn't (I didn't shoot them, so you can't judge me XD)GenericAmerican said:Not really any real consequences. You die, you can get your loot back *excluding things like NVG's* In about 20 minutes.lRookiel said:Wait, Zombies are overplayed but modern warfare shooters aren't?! (Oh cmon you know it's true :3 )GenericAmerican said:People still care about the mod? I put in about a full 24 hours worth on it, but honestly zombies are overplayed. Regular old Arma is better.
I think the reason why people care about the mod is because it offers 2 things other games can rarely pull off, Immersion and actual consequence for the actions you take.
It was fun for a while, and that was before it was turned into a FFA by all the new players.
And the consequence thing, if you lose something like a winchester, yeah thats no big deal but losing something like a silenced M4 or an AS 50 is annoying as hell. Also I meant consequences for things like actually choosing your equipment "Do I take the lee enfield or the MP5 SD?" things like the loudness of your weapons and ammo frequency play into that massively.
Oh and also consequences for where you place your tents/vehicles, there is nothing more annoying than losing a vehicle because some lucky player found where you hid it.
So yes there are alot of consequences for your actions.
I lost a 3 week character to being stupid, 12 mags of DMR the rifle itself, every tool that was in the game at the time and that big fuckoff backpack. (coyote?)
I had most everything I lost replaced within an hour, minus the ludicrous amount of ammo I decided to carry. I then walked back to camp, and had my ammo back.
Dieing has no consequences in the mod, only inconveniences.
. . .Unless of course your just one of those new guys spamming side chat with:
"Does anyone know where I am? I see trees."
"Oh a person, freindly!?"
*so and so has been killed*
Yes that's very fortunate for players like us who roll with other people who can pick up our gear and such for us, but I went to go and pick up one of my mates who had died on a vehicle mission, I arrived to where he was (Otmel), then we both got shot by a group of snipers and I lost:
ALL my gear (M249, backpack, ammo etc) AND an ATV
And had to trek back to base where yes we had replacement guns/equipment waiting (My current stuff). I consider that to be a consequence (or just pure bad luck) but still a consequence nevertheless.
EDIT: BACK TO WORK! the escapist has once again distracted me. It's been delightful Generic american, but I must get on with assignments now.
