I'm old. So this is an important factor.
DC. All the way, no question.
Growing up, DC had:
-all the horror comics (House of Secrets, House of Mystery, Witching Hour)
-all the sword and sorcery comics (Arion, Warlord)
also had -The Shadow.
The original run of the Teen Titans was also way more adult and interesting that what was going on in the X-Titles at that time, for me.
Then DC went Vertigo...and--there's just no question.
DC also gave us 100 Bullets and they picked up Ms Tree (one of my favorite indies) for a while.
DC also had the Watchmen.
The only thing that Marvel did that I liked...was the Marvel UK run of Captain Britain by Alan Moore. That was awesome. Oh, I liked Ghost Rider from the 80s as well.
But generally, while I'm a huge comic fan, I'm not the biggest superhero fan...and Marvel just didn't have much to offer, while DC did.
