Personally I don't trust trailers that don't show ANY actual gameplay... So we couldn't accurately gauge a 'parent's' reaction since it isn't the actual game.

I personally thought the trailer was very sad, although I didn't cry as it's rare for me to cry over things (though I did for the ending of Grave of the Fireflies)... I could watch the whole thing but I can see why a lot parents couldn't as the death of your child is every parent's greatest fear.

I was too busy trying to figure out where and why someone got the idea that mangling up the order of the shots and reversing some of them was an awesome idea to be emotionally effected by it, by the mid-way point I was trying too hard to catch them out on continuity errors. (And really, it relied way too much on way too overt methods to try and pull the heartstrings, which just added in it all quickly being lost on me)

And I'll bet a dime that no unfortunate things will befall any children in the finished game.

I think Geoff response is natural and there is no shame to it (heck I have more respect for him now for being a caring father) since he had just picturing the game daughter as his daughter.
There is not much to say if it will affect the parent?s gamer or not since that was the trailer not the gameplay. While the trailer is compelling the game other wise could be different.

I hope it isn't, I actually hope its an emotion rich game, i like games that can actually drag you into the story if ya get me? i mean yeah dead rising 2 did that with katie and everything but the overall silly-ness of the game kinda ruined it (e.g. wearing womens clothes and riding a tiny pink tricycle)

Bloody hell we already had the goofy, wacky, cooperative Zombie games. I was looking forward to one that actually made me feel uneasy, like the grim bits in Shawn of the Dead.

He sounds like a very sensitive soul, and probably needs to take some pills that keep his mind focused on what reality he's in.

I can understand it making people a little uncomfortable, but its certainly no worse then the first episode of The Walking Dead, where Rick executes a little girl zombie, and I can't remember any fuss over that.

The point of the trailer is that this is how much everything has gone to shit, not that a little girl is dying.

I really don't think this is a "I'd never let my kid play it" kind of outrage, as I've seen some comments say. I just think it's a very powerful trailer. It's actually pretty damn amazing, gave me the chills. I think it's just, him having a child and all that, the trailer was too powerful. And I kind of thought that's part of what we were aiming for as a community.

EDIT: I looked more into the game. Yeah. It's zombie happy fun murder... Still a good trailer... I'm gonna go play some L4D.
