Seeing as how the game came out earlier this week, and I have been thoroughly enjoying the shit out of it, I wanted to know if anybody else was doing the same. I know that Capcom's business practices haven't been...ideal lately, but come on, it's the return of Frank West! Not to mention the addition of freaking Sandbox Mode, a feature that should have been in the very first Dead Rising.

It's great, and everything I ever wanted out of the game. I know Yahtzee probably won't review it, but other websites such as Gametrailers have been giving it high marks. I tend to agree, the game is very refined, I love it to death. It's probably the best purchase I've made all year.

Is there no one else who shares my way of thinking?

Does it have survival mode? only way im picking it up.
I'm...not sure what you mean by that.

Sandbox Mode has you battling the very survivors and psychopaths you would normally face, if that is what you are talking about.

I'm actually kind of disappointed. They simply did not change enough, and I feel somewhat ripped off for it. Like I just payed to play DS2 again. Uranus Zone is nice and all, but honestly it retreads a LOT of old ground, even for a Capcom game.

Also, Sandbox mode, honestly, got kind of boring. I dunno, without the time limit, objectives, or sense of urgency the game loses a lot of its appeal in my eyes. Maybe I'm just burned out on Dead Rising's particular brand of zombie slaying.

I'm enjoying it. Having no time limit means I can spend all day wearing dresses instead of protective gear and getting rewarded for killing survivors is fun. I was hoping the story would be completely different rather then just every other mission but the extra content was worth $40.

Hm. Perhaps you are right.

Granted, I haven't beaten the game quite yet, so I have yet to form a complete opinion, but I was bought into the hype. A lot. I've also been playing the game almost completely co-op on my first playthrough.

Have you tried the co-op with a buddy? It really does add to the whole experience.

I did Co-op back during Dead Rising 2, but I haven't done it for Off The Record. No one I know has it yet. And yeah, DR2 was more fun with a friend, but I'm not sure even that would really solve my problem with it. Make me ignore them for a while, maybe, but not fix.

Ah well, its nice to see Frank again at any rate (though honestly I prefer Chuck). And the game in general feels more polished and well-made than DR2. Its just a shame Capcom didn't take it as far as they could have.

How did you feel about Chuck being a psychopath? I about lost it when I saw that, in the good way. Probably the coolest thing I've seen in a video game since I played Portal 2 for the first time. Completely awesome.

The return of Frank was definitely a good thing, and whoever you play co-op with, Chuck is player 2. Not really a spoiler, but a cool feature nonetheless. Photography, I just can't get enough of. It was such a simple concept in DR1, I'm happy to have had it return. I can't tell you how many times I have grabbed a zombie and taken a picture with him, close-up style.

Just never gets old, that.

Psycho Chuck was one of my favorite things about the game, it was a great cameo. Honestly, THAT was the sort of thing I was expecting from the game, like the redone TIR show with Frank. The same characters and setting, but COMPLETELY redone so everything is different. Not the small changes we got instead.

Photography was probably my other favorite thing, though it makes PP gathering a cinch (which, honestly, isn't necessarily a bad thing). Plus, its just fun to mess with the zombies and get them in funny situations for a photo op.
