When i read the title i had a picture in my head of somebody poking the devs with a bayonette telling them that if they don't say that "they don't care about the money" they'll get shot down.

To ME, this screams of mismanagement of the game project, budget problems, or both.

An idea like this sounds like it comes from some senior Project Manager who realizes that the game is over budget, or does some number crunching and doesn't think that game sales are going to cover development costs. This PM then goes to his managers, and managers make the decision to either trim the game down so it can be finished on a smaller budget, cut the game entirely, or come up with some other money-saving alternative.

Project Manager goes back to the Project team with this information, and someone on the team comes up with the idea of using some kind of DLC for the game. The problem is that they don't have development to MAKE any DLC. So someone else comes up with the idea of turning existing game assets into a sort of DLC, and the idea snowballs from there. Managers love the idea, and tell them to run with it. Then you get what you have now.

Allow me to translate....
"EA leaves us alone. Almost every decision when it comes to the game is ours and ours alone," "We're trying to find ways to make sure that Dead Space 3 is really accessible. That doesn't mean we're going to sacrifice who we are or what the core tenets of Dead Space are in order to attract new players. Dead Space 3 shares the exact same DNA as Dead Space 1 and Dead Space 2." "The last thing we think about is monetization."
*Hits the Translate button*

EA is watching us like a hawk. Like...With a revolver pressed to our heads, saying "do as we say or we paint the wall red!" Almost every decision when it comes to the game is theirs and theirs alone," "EA is trying to find ways to make sure that Dead Space 3 doesn't attract one type of gamer too much than the others or else it might alienate the masses that will generate more sales. That means forcing us to sacrifice who we are and what the core tenets of Dead Space are in order to attract new players. Dead Space 3 shares the exact same DNA as Dead Space 1 and Dead Space 2, but EA's meddling has turned it into a Frankenstein's monster." "The last thing we think about is monetization. EA, however, thinks of it first. We are no longer in control of our product and it is being perverted and abused before our eyes. Please...HELP!"
That's what I get from this, anyway.

Whenever a studio goes "oh, our megapublisher leaves us alone", there is a 90% chance that the publisher IS making them make decisions they don't like. Usually like "Well, we're not gonna give you funding unless you do what we want...Oh and your game needs to sell 5 million copies to justify existing."

Alot of people said boycott doesn't work or isn't the most sensible thing to do but I'm boycotting EA anyway. All games publish by EA are stink of their touch.
