I'm planning to buy dead space two and wanted to read up on the plot of dead space before buying it. What i know so far there is a guy called Clarke who is slowly going insane fighting off necromorphs. I tried reading the the plot of the first one on wikipeadia but call me retarted i just didn't understand it. Some one please explain the plot of dead space in your own words so know whats going on in the second.

Mate, buy and play through the first one. It's an incredible game, tons of fun, and you can get it for like $30 AUD. Also, you should experience the story first hand, it's well worth it.

I'd recommend buying the first one and playing through it, really worth it.

There's probably a reason you didn't understand it... As in, it didn't make much sense anyway. I certainly didn't pay that much attention to it, though. So I could be wrong.

inb4 Dead Space Warz.

I'm kinda in your boat. Played the game for about an hour, then gave up. I believe I muttered when leaving the computer. "WTF happened?"

Alright, do not read if you want to play it.

Otherwise... to put it simply

You're an engineer. A ship has gone silent and you have been called to do emergency repairs. It's infested with monsters. You are infected with a virus that gives you hallucinations of your girlfriend who commited suicide (she was on the ship). You think it's alive...and she is, in a way.
She became one of them and tries to kill you

I also know the beginning of DS 2

You're in an asylum with paranoia and the infection starts again

That being said, you won't pay much attention to the plot since it's really strangely presented.

If you play the deadspace 2 demo, it basically sums up anything of importance at the beginning. and some of the prequel that was on the wii.

Isaac has no personality, so the plot is pretty ignorable. The gameplay is interesting, but unless you play it on the hardest difficulties it doesn't really classify as horror.
It does on the hardest because the Necromorphs soak up ammo like a fat kid does Hamburger grease.

Wikipedia does that. It's a tad more complex but I wouldn't even bother with it. It somewhat bored me but then all games bore me unless you have 4 major plot twists, 10 simpler ones, your mother gets killed and your father is a half-demon, half-alien, half-zombie that wants you to rule the world. So don't judge the game by that.

Something is going to happen in DS2. There is definitly something in the middle of things (I think it's the origin of the virus) but I don't know for sure. Haven't played, just talked to someone who started it.

If you're still interested, this video pretty much sums up the build up to what happens in Deadspace, parts of what happens in Deadspace:Extraction and the entirety of Deadspace. It also gives an introduction to Deadspace 2.
