OK, after a day, I can now bring myself to say things more serious and opinionated than "I am YETPACK!"
- This thread is really silly
- Like, really, properly silly
- People's posts in this thread are often quite enlightening about them
- I really need to get Garrys Mod, because it is HILARIOUS
- Halo's singleplayer has always and will always be better than Half-Life 2's (assuming 343 industries don't ruin it)
- FPS games are equally good on PC and console, anybody having serious problems aiming with the thumbstick has probably been playing on PC for so long they've lost the ability to adapt, which is unfortunate
- Half-Life 2 is certainly overrated, but since it cost me a grand total of £6 on Steam I don't really care
- Bagel Pizza is the best lunch ever
- Some people's posts in this thread are ginormously huge
- Daleks are cool - anyone who disagrees with this will be exterminated
- Homeworld is the single best game of all time. This is a fact, honest! (ahem...)
- Half-Life 3 taking longer than 1.5 years to come out does NOT make it the new DNF. How long was it between HL1 and HL2 again?
This one's a biggie:
- My dream game is an open-world sandbox FPS set in a gigantic area with a few different mini-biomes. In this area, 5 factions are waging all out war: the Geth (of Mass Effect); the Empire (of Star Wars); the Imperial Guard (of 40k); the Combine Overwatch (of Half-Life 2); and the Covenant (of Halo). They each have a sophisticated AI director that launches attacks, creates strategies and adapts on the fly to combat the other factions. The factions all have their own bases (preferably each in a different biome), which have portals of some kind to offworld bases of operations from which they send through troops (except the Empire, who have a spaceport leading to the orbiting Executor). Oh, and before I forget, extensive balancing will have been done to make sure none of the factions are overpowered, and it is an even fight between all of them. The area will also be populated by all the Xen "wildlife" from Half-Life 2 (including the Zombie types), as well as Sentinels from Halo - in fact, the entire area will be riddled with Forerunner constructions and edifices. You, as a nameless, faceless and voiceless hero, are the mother of all spanners-in-the-works, and your mission is to take out each of these factions by journeying to each offworld base in sequence and destroying it somehow in a level that is somewhat more linear than the rest of the game, but still allows you choices and isn't overrun with scripted sequences. You travel around the area in some sort of vehicle, to ensure you don't have to trek for ages to get anywhere. And one last thing: you have a radio-like contraption, with which you can listen in on the various factions' communications, which will add character to each of your foes (and key you in on any massive armies heading towards your position, so you can retreat to the top of a mountain or something and watch the huge battle unfold from a distance). Hmm, anything else... Ah yes, everything will be recorded so you can watch any battles between the factions up close afterwards. This game will never, ever, ever, ever be made, for various reasons, which makes me very sad.
EDIT: Deal with it. How could I forget that?
