Yeah man it's so hot right now, I just came out of the shower and I'm already baking. In my grey joggers, bad idea but I don't feel like going around in my boxer shorts..

Fill a bowl with cold water, one large enough to put your feet in, and sit with that under your desk. Somehow if your feet are cool, seems to make the rest of you feel the same. I'm sure a sciencey person can elaborate, I'm just saying from experience.

Come over to the US. It gets wayy hotter over here. xD I hate the heat as well and I plan to move to the UK in 2 years when Tom and I marry. :3 We're engaged right now. :D I also hate the sun. Him and I have a never-ending feud. -.- Suppose it's what I get from being a super dorky gorgeous redhead. :D

Yeah, I know that you guys over the pond have much hotter weather in comparison to us-its actually why I asked here (If theres ways to cope with 60 degrees+ weather, there has to be ways to cope with 30+) and I think its more how suddenly it came over here in my opinion-nothings worse than waking up and going out of your house to be hit by a blast of heat that comes out of nowhere.

On the bright side, theres warnings of flash floods tomorrow on the news-plenty of water, I guess.

Well, first off, you stop complaining. Just drink a lot of water. Stay out of direct sun. And then, stop complaining. You guys have it easy.

Drink some cold water or a cold soda, and sit there and take the heat like a man.

Summers hit the uk recently, and its hot. Very hot. In previous years I dealt with this by plenty of water and gratious use of hand fans. Money issues however, means I cant use either of these two methods.

So tell me escapist, how do you deal with days where the heats overbearing?

I wear jeans no matter how hot it gets. I'm just resilient. And I love to be able to do so.

Yeah, it is really f*@king hot today isn't it?
Well, the first thing i realised was that the air is actually warm so opening the windows doesn't actually do much.
However, insulating yourself in the right way can help, like covering yourself in thick wool, for i found that my body temp was lower than the air...
Or you could walk around in your pants and live in the freezer, which is what i essentially did.
Sorry for that image.

Stay inside, where it's air conditioned. Outside, it's got to be in the 90s right now, but it's cool enough in the house that I'm wearing a snuggie (don't laugh, it's just a blanket with sleeves -- really useful for surfing the web).

As for what you can do about the heat when you don't have air conditioning, open up some windows and get a cross breeze going. I don't know what the architecture is like in the U.K., but here in the Southern U.S., it's pretty standard procedure to make sure there are at least two windows in every room that shares a wall with the outside of the house, preferable on opposite sides of the house or, failing that, on the next wall over. It allows you to open the windows and get not just a little bit of ventilation, but a full blown breeze going through the house.

Also, I find that stripping down to nothing but a pair of shorts helps a lot. Under the snuggie, I'm wearing a pair of swim trunks and no shirt. It feels good.

The past couple of days here in North West England have been the hottest this year I think, I just switch my fan on and drink tons.

I deal with the heat by living in the Highlands of Scotland. We've already had our 3 days of summer...

I go to the pool or just stay indoors really. Also, I've been riding my bike around town instead of walking everywhere. Certainly helps to have a nice breeze.

I know how you feel though. It is 93 degrees (about 34 degrees Celsius) outside right now and that's a GOOD day here in Columbia, SC. They don't call it "famously hot" for nothing.

Keeping the door to my garden wide open and drinking a lot of cold drinks. If all else fails, get some kind of beverage and stick it in the freezer and use it as a makeshift icepack.

I do love Australias' way of thinking. Its exactly the same as my home town. Its hot, lets get the BBQ rollin and get a pool party up and running. Might as well try to enjoy it!

Dude, last night I had both windows open, had my fan on full power, and I was still too hot to sleep.
That's how hot it is here.
