I would kindly like to point out the follow.

Just because it is a game, and is created to 'entertain' broadly does not mean the following:
It thus glorifies its content.
It thus advocates its content.
It thus implies that one reinact the content.

For example the up-coming Six Days in Fallujah if handled correctly, could be the video game mirror to Apocalypse Now. You may notice that on all sides the anger directed at this game is the already established personal evils of those outraged. So I would, also kindly, ask that just like you wouldn't thumbtack the image of Satan to every hooved animal (least we are faced with farms full of demonic goats, cows and horses) please don't thumbtack your agenda onto a game because its close enough for you to do so.

True enough.

Although I'm not going to cause harm. At worst there will be some head nodding, at best a few people will think on it more maybe adjust their arguements from "STOP BEING A RIGHT-WINGED PIG" to "pretencious babble" :)

I prefer the "try some actual parenting" argument. If games are a bigger influence on your kids than you are, then you seriously fucked up somewhere along the way.

Being the Anti-Video-Game-Statemen-Soccor-Mum-Joe-Redneck-Average that I most certainly am;

I cast aspersions on the legitimacy of your statement.

It's a good thing you posted this here, because this is where all of those types congregate.

Good point but your kind of Preaching to the choir
This, you might as well be telling me the colour of the sky.

The whole point is that your average Joe is an idiot. The cliche American everyman (Joe the plumber, etc) is ignorant as hell and will make no effort to change this. Same with soccer mom's who think they know to run a country. They're not very educated on matters that don't personally interest them, so the only way they hear about stuff is from the news and its scare tactics.

And politicians for the same reason can't be any better. First of all the politicians come from the general public originally, and the general public are morons. But even if they happened to have some sense, their largest customer base are the morons. So in order for them to continue having a job, they have to give the customers what they want, not what they need or should have in a just and sane world.

Going to point out that plenty of rednecks are gamers. Who do you think buys all those Deer Hunter games? Someone has to, and I am pretty sure it's them.

This is a sad, sad truth. If people looked further than mainstream media for information on what their son/daughter was doing, we'd have less of and anti party. Can we not get some faces from the industry out there with some positive messages?

Of course we can. They'll just be ignored in favour of fear-mongering about games that lead to bestiality, terrorism and bedwetting. Fear, like sex, sells - how often have you flipped onto a news channel and seen, instead of "A new strain of flu is going to MURDER US IN OUR BEDS LIKE OMG SRSLY U GUYS!!1!", a newscaster say "Well, not much happened in the world today. An old lady did fall over, but she was OK, and continued on her way after passers-by helped her up. In other news, I tried Thai food last night and I'm pretty sure I like it. I'm going to test the theory further, more at eleven!"

Also, my mum's a soccer mum. If by that you mean really, really into football, attending most of our local team's games and taking my brother to his matches. She also doesn't mind that he spends his evenings playing Modern Warfare online, or that I'm a game junkie. Snap judgements can be so unfair...

No intentional offence at your mother... haha. Sorry.

Anyway, Soccor Mum is a sterotype, don't take it as a judgement on all mothers. Its a comment on a existing personnality type. Not everyone in politics is there to cause you as much misfortune as possible - just most of them :p

Its like with a lot of things really, if people step back (and I'm not saying you are doing this SonicWaffle) from something their involved in on a personal level when they think then things are a lot more balanced. People do generally only pick out what applies to them on a personal level and have a tendancy to amplify it.

Soccer Mum = "Soccer moms are sometimes accused of forcing their children to go to too many after-school activities; overparenting them in concerted cultivation rather than letting them enjoy their childhood." to paraphrase Wikipedia.

If your mother doesn't drive her kids to soccer in a mini-van then almost certanly think of that, if you have one whom does you may leap to defend her rather then seeing that the comment is a statement on the above wiki exert, not your mother.

I'm stealing your comment to make a point, not calling you one of the people whom does that. Stressing that.

People whom are like that, too busy being a white knight to think are at the core of the video games are evil argument.
