Read the rest of my post. My point isn't that people had unrealistically high expectations (note: they did) but that failing to meet artificially created expectations is not Bioware's fault :p
They're not artificially created, man. Casey Hudson said verbatim in an interview:
?This story arc is coming to an end with this game. That means the endings can be a lot more different. At this point we?re taking into account so many decisions that you?ve made as a player and reflecting a lot of that stuff.?
the entire third game was the ending, not the last 10 minutes with the starchild.

I payed for an rpg, WHat i got was a shooter.

well actually I payed for nothing but thats what I hear and thats why I dont buy the game, I dont want a shooter, im bored of those, I like RPG's.
Tell me what defines a RPG?

No really I want to know what you think defines a RPG, because by the definition of a RPG ME3 is one.

the term RPG needs to be erased and replaced with something else because RPG as it is defined is so vague it potentially covers almost every game ever made.

.... Because the rest of the game sucked? The only things I enjoyed were the moving backgrounds and a few of the side character's stories, that's it. The main story is a crap from immediately demonizing TIM to adding 3rd act macguffins to squeezing all the sympathy the could out of a fucking kid just because it's a kid. The combat was nothing to write home about, it certain doesn't dwarf ME1's combat by comparison. Most of the main characters are completely overlooked offering little to nothing to the story besides fanservice-

Not even the head writer or lead composer of the original game worked on this and it shows. Not to mention the "if you're not a fan it's ok you can still buy ME3" campaign that was fucking bullshit. The way they covered all their bases for "new fans" was by adding a retarded, drooling monkey that was pointless, horribly acted and did nothing but ask stupid questions that long-term fans knew 200 hours ago.

And then there's the ending. It was stupid. 2/10

Nice try, Mass Effect 3 defenders like to try that one but it was the "3rd Act" not the "ending". The ending is what happens after the falling action, not the falling action itself. As well, does that mean if Mass Effect 1 was a flop and they didn't make a sequel it would be a game with no ending? Of course not. Mass Effect 1 had an ending, Mass Effect 2 had a heavy setup ending, and Mass Effect 3 had a bunch of random stuff happening at the end.
