Dear Escapist, please get new ads

Well, just shell out $10 and you wont haft to worry about ads at all.
Other than that, tough it out.
The Escapist shows the Ads that the Escapist is paid to show.
You want something different, them maybe you should pay for a different Ad.

I'm planning to join the publisher's club anyways because I love the Escapist as a company.
I seriously doubt anyone can compete for Escapist's attention on ads at this point, short of being a major company...

Wouldn't it be cool if they made their own ads though? That'd be pretty bitching.

I remember when Zero P was kinda new, it would show short clips on X-Play.
That was some major Advertising for The Escapist.

That was when big companies like, erm... big companies, had no interest in Escapist and ZP was just off the ground. Don't you wish you invested in this site back then? I sure do...

I feel your pain. Every time I try and watch a whole bunch of episodes at once (ie. Doomsday Arcade, Unforgotten Realms), that stupid commercial comes on, and the more I see it, the more I want to tell everybody I know to never, never buy it. It'd be less painful if the ad was actually interesting, or at least not as crappy.
There's no problem with having ads, but at least try to switch them more often, or maybe even get a couple of ads at once and play a random one, instead of playing [look! if you eat this stick of meat, you can be cool and awesome and beat up ninjas!] over and over. and over. again.

Well, I'm glad someone understood what I was saying and didn't mistake my vent for a long string of WHAAAAs... It's true that Escapist is free and we really don't have any right to complain, but dear God it's been the exact same ad for so long, and I don't think getting forced to buying a membership due to crappy ads is the correct grounds for investing in said membership... plus the ad is just-so-stupid...

I'm moreso bitching about the ad itself and not at Escapist, if anything directed at Escapist it's that it shouldn't show up every single time I load a video (once every other time would be nice, but again, I have no idea how it works and maybe they're bound by a contract to do it this way, or maybe they need to meet a quota by the end of the year like TV does)

So, yeah... the ad is stupid... this wasn't nearly as satisfying as I thought it would be, why do I ever come to Escapist to vent? It's like playing with my dog for friendly conversation.

I also wish they would switch to a commercial that's at least a little funny rather than something as disturbing as a 50 year old man telling two 12 year olds to "eat it and beat it," but I don't mind because there's always the option of just getting the publisher's club deal.

Fair enough, but if I join the publisher's club, it's because I respect the Escapist as a company and agree with their ideals, not because I'm sick of hearing a disturbing line of dialouge involving disgusting meat that I feed my dog when I go to a gas station.

Meh, the ads are annoying but they keep the site running, so whatever. They don't bother me much. I just mute them and go about my business for another 30 seconds in a different window until they end.

In any case, as far as a DVD, I'd totally buy Unskippable, though that might be kinda hard with copyrights and all. But I'd still buy it if it was available. xD

I really should've made it my focus on how stupid the ad is, I don't seem to have very good luck in convaying my actual opinion in topic headers... I'm glad Escapist is making money and is (for the most part) free... I'm starting to get woozy from holding my breath for that Apocalypse Lane DVD though, starting to see spots.

I can live with ads but I do have to wonder; does anyone voluntarily eat those greasy meat tubes? Give us ads but give us relevant ones. As a pasty white nerd I want to learn more about caffeinated drinks, microwavable foods and sweatpants that don't get holes in the crotch quite so easily.

I think the Starcraft 2 commercial was the one thing I could actually tolerate hearing over and over again because at the time, everybody was talking about it, and besides, it 1) actually looks and sounds cool, and 2) it advertised "hey! go buy this awesome looking sequel to an old game! It's gonna be good!" instead of: "hey! listen! eat this crappy meat product because some guy you don't recognize tells you to!"
