This has got to be one of the most phenomenal forums in existence. Not because of the endless reviews of games that I don't really care about, but read anyway, not because of the endless laughs that I've had to people's hilarious requests for an opinion of "THE BEST WEAPON EVER IN EVERY GAME EVER" for the twentieth time in the afternoon, nor because of the endless advice on a plethora of life problems that people have had in thier lives, but because of one simple thing:
If a user has an I.Q of <2, they're never told that they're the most inferior subject to have ever existed, even if the poster thinks that way. "Welcome to the Escapist. Here are a few tips to posting here:"
That, I personally believe, takes class. In my life of constant lurking of several forums, I have never seen a newbie go un-flamed. Maybe I happen to hop into angry communities, but the BARBIE MAGIC PRINCESS forum doesn't really appeal to me all too well.
On another note, proper spelling and grammar is almost vital if you want to be taken seriously for reviews/statements/etc, which just makes the feel of this place a whole lot better. Typing like a 4 year old doesn't make you mentally retarded, but it's seen as a subliminal sign of dim-wittedness (I am more than aware that it isn't a word, but it works.) and deny it if you want, but we know it's true.
Not saying that flaming is wrong, of course, and it's more than present here, but it's INTELLIGENT flaming, as opposed to "I DID UR MOM LOL", and those that use that exact argument tend to get (rightfully) shot down flames.
Regardless, I congratulate you all in not being the douches that the majority of forum-dwellers are, yet supply all the necessary humor that we all love so much.
