Why do you use a Mac?

I've been a PC user and lover for many years now, and I've tried to use/get into Macs, and I just can't do it. With a Mac, I feel like I'm paying more just for the name and cause everything looks flashy. Which is fine, I'm just not into that.

So I wanna know, Mac users (and Mac users ONLY), why do you personally use a Mac?

I kindly request that all PC users keep from posting in this thread. However if you have used, are currently using/own a Mac, you can comment about your experience.

Also, please try to refrain from comparing "PC" or "Mac." I'm not trying to do a Vs. here, I just want opinions on what makes you use a Mac. If it's something that your Mac can do that a PC can't do, then feel free to comment on that, but please try not to harp on that fact.

I would also like to know what OS youre running on your system. Do you strictly run OS X, do you run OS X and Windows XP? Vista? 7? Please, share.

To restate myself, im not trying to start a Vs. war, I am just trying to get a better understanding of what Macs have out there to offer, maybe I didn't get the full usage out of a Mac when i tried it.

In before "Mac is better."
In before "PC is better."
In before "In before flamewar."

I use a PC because it's what I've always used. My friend uses her mac for video editing and general schoolwork and my brother uses his mac because...I dunno, he likes it?

You're forgetting, they also write their screenplays in Starbucks for 8 hours everyday.

I own a Mac but I'd much rather use a PC.

It was given to me (yes given. I didn't pay a cent) by a friend of mine and she didn't use it anymore.

I don't really see the big deal. I prefer PC just because I'm more used to PC than Mac and its harder to get music files for Mac.

I'd much rather be using a 500 dollar PC than this 5000 dollar copy of a PC that's just dressed up. There's no reason for them to be so expensive. They just look a bit better.

I only use Macs when am at college and manly because the course that I'm studying (Tv and film) demands the use of them. Other than that I prefer PC.

I was forced to use my dad's MAC when my computer died to complete a report I had to do and took the time to know the OS a bit better. It was...clumsy. It really didn't have anything that the PC couldn't offer. It had cool graphics, but that can be achieved by modding your Windows installation. It had decent video editing softwares but I'm still rather fond of using Adobe's shit.

Overall, MAC didn't do anything the PC can and does better. I see no reason to spend more money on one.

I have a MacBook Air and I absoloutely love it.
The reason for this is that it just looks so damn sexy, not to mention it packs quite a punch for such a tiny computer. I completely understand that most people on a gaming forum don't give a damn about how a computer looks, and wouldn't pay that much of a premium for a good looking computer but some people will. I am one of those people. And I like Mac OSX as a work platform more than Windows. It feels more stable and generally more in tune with my needs when it comes to managing my work files.
I hate when people say "but it's such a waste of money you can get the same thing but a lot bit cheaper".
Thing is. I don't want the cheaper one, I can afford a Mac, and a gaming PC and whatever else I want. So why shouldn't I have what I want? Makes perfect sense to me... But most poeple still don't get it.

I use a Mac (MacBook Pro in particular) mostly because I prefer its user interface. It's just so much cleaner and easier to use, IMO, than Windows. I've used PCs at school and at friends houses and things that are extremely easy to do on a Mac just seem needlessly complex. I assume that if I used a PC as my main comp such operations would become trivial over time, but I still prefer my Mac for its UI. Additionally, it's easier to use Unix on a Mac, at least initially, than on a Windows based system simply because Mac is based on the Berkeley version of BSD and such has Unix as a basis of its OS.

Of course there's also the less-viruses issue. I know this is only because no one really bothers to make them for Mac because PCs are are so much more widespread but the point still stands, at least for the present. I also prefer the hardware of my MacBook Pro to any other laptop, no matter what they are running. They just seem brittle in comparison.

I will likely get/build a gaming PC eventually [AKA when I have time and money :( ] but at present I am a console gamer and don't see anything wrong with that.

I have both mac and pc, and linux for that matter, and the mac gets used the most. Its 5 years old with a piddling 1.3 ghz processor but still works wonderfully. Where as doing anything on my pc requires more fuss and bother than I care to deal with

also mac = no virus's which I know isnt really a concern for those of us who actually know how a computer works, but it makes life easier

in short, I just like that the hardware is extremely durable as well as being stylish, and when you look at other premium lines of computer not that expensive either (especially with educational discount :D )

I use my Mac for making movies, work, music and some art stuff. I don't hate PCs. I just find my Mac easier to use. I can't use Bootcamp with my laptop. It's pretty full right now.

I don't understand the whole "PC vs Mac" war. Even the companies are getting in on it.

You can get the MAC interface on the PC also.

Any virus problem on the PC can be solved with simply installing an Anti-Virus. I haven't had a Virus problem since I installed AVAST! Anti-Virus.

yeah sorry, I am not a mac user, but I just want to throw in my 2 cents right now,
I like my laptop way more then anything Mac has released for the past few years, mine looks better, has better hardware, and it's red (last one might be a bit useless but it looks awesome)

the macbooks just look, bland to me, I can't see why people find them so good looking
(xps m1530 what I have)
