Remember that D0g started off about two and a half feet tall, and Alyx has been "adding on" to him ever since. As having your own near-indestructable robot is a pretty nifty thing for a girl growing up on the tough streets of City 17, I imagine she'd have altered him to be useful in combat situations- able to climb and grab onto things. Who knows, maybe D0g started out life as a modified Aibo.

Nah, she's alive. She's just unconscious, and in the middle of nowhere.
Anyway, I doubt the Portal gun could feasibly be incorporated into Half-Life. It only works well with small, restricted areas.
I'm guessing that maybe they will put the portal device in one of the last sections of the large ship they were talking about. But maybe they will not, we don't know really. Portal was well made as a prelogue ( spelling? ) and I'm sure they'll tie the two stories together more.

ATM though I just wish they come up with some original map/game design. Episode1 was as liniear as can be and I felt ripped off paying so much only for a zombie combine model. I almost died when I got to the cheap "use the flashlight with shitty batteries in the dark against zombies" part which is straight from doom3. I hated the ending with the extremely small space you could walk in near the train and I thought what the hell when it ended there.

Ep2 was alot better with it's slightly bigger areas and new places to explore. They finally split up the sprintbar with the flashlight bar as well ( does it take them this long to figure this out? ) and they brought in new enemies and the anti strider mines which are really fun to use. Still I'd hardly call "defend the tunnels" innovative.

The fact that the orange box has portal and TF2 as well is keeping me from complaining about that purchase as well. What can I say, despite it's lack of innovation I still want to see what the heck happens with Gordon so I'm buying like the good consumer I am. But the engine is wonderfull, it runs great on my mediocre pc and there are so many fun ideas you can do with the destructable material and gravity gun. Am I the only one that felt ep1 was rushed, ep2 was slightly better and hopes that ep3 will be alot better overall?
i think the problem with ep1 was that we had already seen some of those levels and areas and it got a little bit boring(the part where v had to help the civilians to get on the train) but ep2 was way better, i think it could match half life 2 if it was longer

so for the game, you should start out as a lil Aibo with knives for paws, going around ripping apart headcrabs. that'd be too cute.

I think Episode 3, Portal 2 and possibly some other things will be in another coloured box. Probably in 2009, late '08 if we're lucky, but you can't rush genius, I'd rather they take their time and push out an amazing finale to the saga of HL2, although I'll ***** until it comes out about their delaying.

What I'm interested in seeing is, like, they've picked up on half life and team fortress and brought them back to life, can anyone think of a title Valve might be thinking of bringing back to life?

Agreed on that, but they didn't even try to show us some new areas. The parts we did see of the now destroyed city 17 weren't interesting at all and liniear as heck. The civilian train scene could be awesome, with tons of rebels and civies desperately trying to flee the city. Instead we got a lame escort mission that made no sence because it would be alot easier to just bring in all the rebels at once instead of 2,3, at a time.

I agree

For episode 3 and chell and all that, you have to take into account that portal is set 20 years before half life 2 (during the resonance cascade)

I hope Gordon and Chell meet in a future Half-Life installment, and spend a good while awkwardly standing around waiting for an NPC capable of speaking to show up. Maybe they could team up with Adrian Shepherd for five silent, emotionless minutes of fighting off troopers while waiting for an elevator.
I giggled.

Besides, who says Chell can't talk anyway? For Christ's sake; she really didn't have the requirement to talk in Portal. After all, I doubt that GLaDOS would have been able to be reasoned with regardless of whether or not the player could stretch those vocal cords.

Dog probably stands for something. Like... Diligent Obedient Gorilla.
I don't think Dog should have his own game, but perhaps one level?

Dog is called dog because he started out as a small robotic pet Eli made for Alyx. He protected her not unlike a guard dog. That simple. As for the portal gun in Ep3, I wouldn't see why not in some form or another. There's no reason to think SOME kind of portal technology would be stored on the Borealis. (btw, there will NOT be a Half-Life 3, Newell's said as much. the episodes are the end of gordons tale) Then there's Chell. To be honest, I don't think we can really say when that whole test chamber debacle she was caught in occured. It could have been years before the resonance cascade at black mesa, or it may have taken place during or even years after. There's a line GLaDOS says "when i look up there I'm glad i'm not you" and another where she says she's the only thing between "us and them". So that could be reference to the XEN creatures coming through or possibly the Combine, who knows. There's also numerous calenders strewn about the Aperture Labs mentioning dates in the 80's and beyond. Guess only way we'll know is if they make a sequel to Portal or explain a few things in Ep3. As for the future of Valve, I'm really curious as to what kind of new app/franchise they may potentially make once they've completed the Half-Life saga. Let the contemplation begin.

From wikipedia on portal

"It is not clear when these events take place in the overall Half-Life time-line, though it is almost certainly after Half Life and before Episode Two"

Proves nothing really. That means it could happen all of one year before episode 2. Not twenty years. The calenders are no give away as Aperture have been operating since the 1950s I believe, admittedly as a shower curtain company. Really I like the ambiguous time setting, gives Valve a lot of leighway when it comes to the storyline, they've confirmed NOTHING about the time setting for Portal, for all we know it could happen AFTER Episode 2 or even along side it. There's no conclusive evidence for any of these theories, until someone in a game straight up tells me when it happened, I won't believe it. Who knows, the "Them" GLaDOS mentions could be Xen, Combine or something else entirely. For all we know she could be bluffing.

And who ever wrote that was (probably) killed by GLaDOS how long ago?

C'mon, Portal has no definite time frame. Anyone who tries to give it a time frame is taking a wild stab in the dark beyond saying it's +/- 100 years of the resonance cascade.

Maybe...just maybe,Eli found an "eye" part from GLaDOS after she was blown up by Chell, put some legs on it and called it Dog.
Well, Dog seems to be very intelligent for a pile of garbage(don't want to insult anyone),and he just has one eye, so maybe,he has a part of GLaDOS as a "core" and the other stuff from Eli and Alyx. ("Disk Operating Guardian" DOG lol)
Just an idea, but I'd like to see Dog exploring his past. I'd buy every game with Dog as a main character.

The purple core prevented her from killing the rest of the scientists.

Please get some facts next time.
