Personally I think this is the best since the 'Black Album'!

Just wanted to get some peoples opinions on the album!
Thanks!

i mainly like rap (good rap for christ sake, let soulja boy hang! although the image would be controversial :S) but i've been partial to other genres for some years now. my friend showed me some of metallica's old stuff and i liked it, but should i pick up metallica's older albums or this new one? which is better do you think?

if not, then im going after jazz, that genre has eluded me for long enough!

Oh god yes even this album doesnt measur to the pure awesomeness of Master of Puppets

"Come crawling FASTER!, obey your MASTER!, your life burns FASTER!, obey your MASTER! MASTER!"

Hells yes

I think it's OK. By no means as good as Master Of Puppets or Kill 'Em All but a definite step up from St. Anger.

Unforgiven 3 is my favourite track so far but my opinion will no doubt flex the more I listen to the various songs.

I disliked it...it sounds cluttered, it lacks the clean definate edge that most older metallica songs have. I dunno, maybe they are trying to appeal to the current market or something but I miss my slower, harmonic based intros :(
I'd go so far as to say its as bad as st anger, but I'll give it a few more listens before I go that far.
ChromeAlchemist, I'd recommend ride the lightning of justice for all if you like older metallica (or kill'em all or master of the puppets..the are all incredible).

Me thinks that Rick Rubans low-tech recording style is to blame

Listen to The Day that Never comes. (Its got a harmonic intro.)

Haven't heard it yet, never been big into Metallica. I really only know one or two songs by them, but I like those.

Enter Sandman is a pretty awesome song. I'm now beginning to wonder why I've never really listened to much of then...hmm...maybe I should change that.
