So, after watching this animation of a routine by Eddie Izzard it got me thinking of other practical amenities that probably exist in fims/games/books that never make it into the main plot.

Have you ever wondered about the professional hairdressers in the Final Fantasy series or the bathrooms in the TARDIS?

Suggest certain services that would have existed but, for obvious reasons, were left out of a story.

Sort of. This thread amuses me.

I wonder what everyone wears to bed.

I used to feel like those little homely mundane inconveniences like food and bathrooms sucked the romance out of life and made it undignified.

Sometimes when I see guys with dyed hair, I imagine what they look like when their hair's wet with dye and there's blotches of it on their scalp, particularly stereotypical emo types.

My biggest gripe is how most cartoon characters never change clothes. Certainly the textile industry in most of those worlds has long since bankrupted.

I imagine it'll be an emptying a bucket out of a window situation.

There are no bathrooms in Star Trek or Star Wars. Never does anyone go to the bathroom for any reason. Makes you wonder about the future... (or past in a galaxy far, far away).

Also, in films where characters are outside for days on end (specifically horror films), getting chased or in hiding etc, their teeth always remain clean and white.

Do you think you would lose health if someone emptied their turd out the window and on top of your head?

I think that you would get a disease, perhaps some sort of stat drain.

- 50 to charisma (your covered in crap! think about it!)
+ 1 to wisdom (You aint gonna walk close enough to any windows for that to happen again are ya)

In most games people don't walk about or eat and drink or sleep (or poop).
Oblivion was good in this regard.

Interesting!

EDIT - Love that vid, seen it heaps of times and it still makes me laugh!

i like to think they just have identical clothes.
Questionable Content is really good at varying clothes by in-universe day.
and in Oblivion, if you give someone a new hood they wear it without question, even cursed ones. its hilarious to give a roomful of sleeping guards (another good thing) cursed Black Hoods and then waking them up. they put them on then die.
and shockingly, i found an outhouse in a game.
weirdly, it was Fallout 3.
but Oblivion is good for this stuff, except shitting. i have never seen a game where a character shits.

How can characters in so many games get through levels and even entire games without sitting? Doesn't it get tiring after a while?

That was my biggest irritation in Terminator: Salvation. They have been at war with machines for a while but every human characters looks like it just walked out of a toothpaste commercial. Just really annoying to see that.

Playing many rpg's i wonder where the toilet is, why hardly anyone locks their houses and also how some of the smaller towns can even survive for so long with all the monsters roaming about and no real economy in the settlement.
