I will admit that I fear death. I will panic and hyperventilate if I think about it too much.

It's just another fact of life that I don't want to accept. I want to live forever, with a body that isn't old and broken. Death means you become nothing. You aren't there anymore. There is nothing after that. That scares me. There's always the assumption that if someone were to be immortal, they would go insane. I'd rather be batshit fucking crazy than dead. Atleast going insane will be an interesting experience.

I suppose I'll get over it eventually, but I will freakout if I think about it too much. I'm a little jumpy even as I type this post.

I'm too young to fear death. I believe that as there is nothing after death the purpose of life is to lead a worthwhile life.
To that end I travel the universe erasing worthless people from time blunder about from one thing to the next hoping that I can leave a worthwhile impact on society/school/my future children.
Thus far it's going well alright.

I'm going to be honest. I don't fear death for a simple reason. I have never tried it.
Some say that death is just the start of a journey while others think of it as the end. I'm in the between there where i believe it's a journey but not biting the bullet jet. I found it the best way to coupe is to make a list of things you want to do before the end. I'm halfway through the list atm.
On another matter suicide is the only way of telling god "I quit"
just my two cents.

I know at least 1000 ways to die my hope is to go out saving someone in the Zombie Apocalypse, or going peacefully in my sleep. I just fear it cause I feel bad for all the money my parents and family have spent on me. I just don't want my other side of my family to find out those rotten dirty stinkin' liars.

Comes to everyone. It's inevitable and will take you when it desires.

I don't fear death. When I think of death, the thing that scares me is the act of dying. There's plenty of horrible, painful ways to die out there that are generally good to avoid, though after death, no one's really sure if you'll even be able to remember the pain anyway.

So what's important is to live for now, leave your mark on the world so that when death takes you, you won't have regrets about how you lived. And if you can die for a cause you believe in, or die worthily, you can have that circumstantial bonus.

Though, this is just my opinion as it is now. I'm sure if I were staring death in the face, my opinion would be very different, unless I had time to come to terms with it, and even then my opinion might change.

I'm planning on living forever. So far so good....

Stephen Lynch jokes aside, I don't think that I fear death as I have an idea that when I die my body will decompose to give sustenance to plants and carry giving life to others, which is why I want to be cremated and my ashes scattered in a forest when the time comes.

Yes, I look to The Lion King for my philosophy on death. :)

Death, be no proud. Though some have called thee mighty and dreadful, thou art not so.

And yes, John Donne's "Holy Sonnet X" really does reflect my view on death - it opens the door to an eternal beyond (not necessarily heaven or hell), it is not an end in itself.
That said, even though I don't fear death I do fear dying. Goes with being alive, I suppose.

I wouldn't really fear it if I was over, say, 70?

But I don't exactly fear it now anyway. I would just be really pissed off if I died now...

Like a lot of people here, I don't fear* death, but I do fear pain.

I grieve other people's deaths deeply. I hate losing things, and that's the biggest thing you could possibly lose.

But - not believing in any sort of afterlife - the thing I'd regret most about my own death would be losing the opportunity to learn more about the world.

* (I have a preservation instinct, same as anyone. But not a fear. My only real phobias are heights and public speaking. I totally have my priorities in order, right?)

we die, it happens, we haven't the faintest f*cking idea what happens afterwards. deal with the whole "post death experience" stuff when you are haunting some gullible moron.

I reckon when you die your eyesight goes white and you see a sign saying:

Achievement Unlocked: You have completed the main campaign of life,

......seriously I like the idea of reincarnation, coming back again as someone else.
But frankly when i do think about it i say to myself:

"Well we'll all find out what happens sooner or later so no point dwelling on it".

When i die i hope i go peacefully in my sleep, like my grandfather. Not screaming in terror, like the people riding in his car.

Necessary, and often blessed. My mother and sister both work as nurses--my sister in an emergency room, my mother on an oncology ward. Having had the chance to see some of the patients they work on, and occasionally even speak to them, I've begun to believe that death is sometimes a mercy compared to the "life" (sarcastic air quotes highly intended) that certain individuals would otherwise have to live.

That said, my personal opinion on it is neutral. I don't fear it, nor do I think about it much. It'll come for all of us someday, so what's the point in freaking out about it in the meantime?
