"Cynicism is a tool you have acquired over time... And it is just. But I must say that if you look around the room, you shall see armed guards." Fat Dog gestured, and several heavily armed men took some steps forward. "Rest Assured, I am Fat Dog, and I can confirm you are here for a reason, although it is primarily for my amusement."

Fat Dog began to explain, "I brought you here, because we have jeopardised your lives. You had not part in Captain Daryvich's blunders, nor any affiliation with the state that we would class as dangerous to us. We have nearly killed you, and imprisoned you... These barriers have been overcome by my intervention, but there is one price all of you have to pay."

The screens in the room flashed images, of all of the prisoner's faces and their files. "Due to you having been on a train of which was taken by the ILSA, which has been confirmed by some soldiers you apparently spared, you are now wanted for treason and affiliation with a terrorist group by the USSR. You are now fugitives."

"You will now receive a fate worse than death if caught, you shall be taken to one of Klonov's interrogation and execution cells. I think everyone has heard tales of them..."

Lukas shuddered at the thought, Fat Dog continued.

"Due to no fault of your own, all of you are marked for death. Your lives have been torn to shreds. Although most of you have already lost all chance of normalcy by the reasons you were on the train, there are some..." Fat Dog pointed towards Sergei Baranov, "...Who have lost much from this. Normally I would be out of my power to do anything, but due to me having access to the Uninet's classified channels and of Jakrous Kiech's surveillance databases, I know everything that you have ever done that could be called important."

"Having found out all about you... I have come to a conclusion. A conclusion which shall save you. I shall completely erase your files from the Soviet's database, I shall make it that in the Bolshevik's eyes that you have never existed. You will disappear from their reality. In exchange for that, I will utilize your talents which I have learnt of in your files to their full potential. You will join the ILSA."

"I offer you a choice; become like us, fugitives, revolutionaries, terrorists. Or we drop you off in Svobodny, where you were supposed to go- Klonov's men will inflict horrors upon you worse than death. I offer you a choice. I offer you two doors."

"Questions?"

"So just to clarify this we can either join you and possibly die, or not join you and be tortured relentlessly?"

Pauses to mule it over.

"I always wanted to kill Soviets for a living count me in."

Yuri didn't even have to think on it. This is what he had been waiting for. Taking a bit of a step forward he said, with a hint of pride

"I accept"

"Out of fear of what will happen if I don't, count me in." Cyprus said with an awkward smirk.

Sergei's face had gone pale when the man, supposedly "Fat Dog", pointed him out personally. He seemed to claim to know all about all of them, which made Sergei very nervous. But surely that couldn't be true? If they knew he was a loyal Soviet they would have killed him by now. But what did the terrorists think?

Whatever was going on, Sergei was just glad he wasn't dead yet. Now the terrorists were practically pressing them into joining them. Fat Dog gave them the "option" of returning to civilization, but threatened them with being tortured and killed by the Soviets. Sergei was forced to admit that was a likely scenario, for the prisoners at least.

Despite Fat Dog's supposed knowledge of who he was, Sergei decided to continue with his plan. The more he knew about the ILSA the more he could tell the Soviets once he escaped. After all, at this point he didn't even know where he was. Summoning as much courage as he could, he spoke: "Fine, I will join you. I suppose it will be as good a life as anything else I can expect."

"Ironic," Joshua said, "I helped build weapons for the Soviets, and now those very weapons have been turned onto me." He laughed a cold cruel laugh, "I'll join this group then, if only to repay the Soviets what they have done to me."

"Ironic indeed Mr. Richardson," Fat Dog turned towards Baranov, "You don't seem that eager, I know why. Mr.Baranov."

"I have three ideas on why you are accepting my offer; The first being that like every other person in this group, you want to escape death. The second being driven by hatred to harm the Bolsheviks. The third would be exclusive to you, with your background considered; the third is what you are probably conspiring right now. You want to spy on us, to try and fulfil lost dreams of glory and heroics. You want to be thought of as a martyr."

Fat Dog pulled out a small metal box, half full with items, the items the prisoners carried a few hours ago.

"Mr.Baranov, how would like to become a martyr now?" Fat Dog's shadowed hands ruffled through the equipment in the box, and he pulled out Yan's revolver, Fat Dog's hands opened it up, and made sure it was fully loaded. Fat Dog placed it on the desk, and beckoned Lukas towards Baranov.

"Please could you take those handcuffs off him Captain?"

Lukas bore a confused look on his face as he undid Baranov's cuffs, they finally dropped off.

"So," Fat Dog continued, "I confront you with a second choice, leave this room with the others. Or pick up this gun and kill me, but at the price of all of my heavily armed guards opening fire on you, thus killing you. I confront you now to see if you will die for the state that you love, or continue for the organization you apparently despise."

"Please, choose."

Sergei was almost visibly shaking with anxiety. All eyes were upon him; this was the last thing he needed. This man did seem to know exactly who he was. Perhaps he really was Fat Dog? Either way it hardly mattered, as Sergei was sure he had no real chance of killing the man. It was just a trap. He glanced to his side at the guards surrounding them; their faces, half-hidden in shadows, were unreadable.

He looked back at Fat Dog. His face betrayed little if any of his real emotion. He just looked back expectantly, like he was asking any casual question. But Sergei would not fall for his trap.

"I do not know what or who you think I am, Mr. Fat Dog" he finally said. "But whatever you think I am, I am not suicidal. If I show any lack of ardor for joining your little group, it is only due to my being unnerved by recent events, as you surely understand. I would love nothing more than to join you."

Sergei stopped speaking and hoped those around him would believe he didn't know what the Fat Dog was talking about. If he really did know who Sergei was, surely he would just shoot him anyway. Sergei's heart beat frantically as he wondered if he was about to die.

"Mr.Baranov, I know of your apparent commitment and love of the Soviets. If you truly love the Union, and would do anything for it, sacrifice yourself. I am flesh and blood, I will die. You are flesh and blood, you shall die. If you love the USSR more than yourself... You would have picked up that gun and fired before you could have thought. Don't worry, there is no shield between us, no armour on myself, no tricks to be played."

Fat Dog continued, "I know of men who would have shot me just then. I know they would have happily destroyed themselves to sever the head of the ILSA. You may have once been like those men, but no matter how much you refuse to admit to it, you are no longer like that."

"You no longer love the Soviets, do you? You, having been a puppet for so long, have realised you wear strings. The revolver on my desk can reinforce those strings. Or you could go in and sever them. I am testing you Mr.Baranov, but you cannot fail, only earn favour."

"Would you die for your apparent ideals? Or will you not?"

So Fat Dog really did know that much about him. How? How much information about him existed out on the uninet?

It did not matter. Soviet heroes had overcome greater challenges, and Sergei would have to see this through if he was going to prove himself and protect his motherland.

He took a deep breath and began to speak words he never thought he would say. "Mr. Fat Dog, I once believed in the Soviet Union and its supposed glory. But over my life I have seen things that make me doubt what I have been taught, as I figure you already know. A few years ago I would have gladly taken that gun, shot you in the head, and then fought your guards for as long as I could before dying for my country. Now, I find myself unable to do so.

"Now I just find myself wanting to live. Perhaps you people are right in what you do. Either way, I would like to join you and continue to survive, even if it means killing my future comrades. I only hope you will allow me to do so."

Fat Dog nodded his head, his form looked as if he knew of Sergei's intentions but he made no hint of any knowledge when he continued.

"Intriguing, Mr. Baranov... now, are there any more questions or objections? I would like them to be phased out before we begin."

"None left here."
Andrew shuffled his feet as he waited for everyone to finish their questions or for Fat Dog to close up.

"Intriguing." That was all Fat Dog said in response to his speech. It nearly enraged Sergei. Here was the test of his life, an attempt to lie his way out of a quick death, and the ILSA leader hardly even responded to it. He gave no hint as to if he believed Sergei or not, he just dismissed his words like a parent trying to feign interest in their child's insignificant story.

Atleast it seemed the subject had moved off of Sergei. He calmed himself, took a deep breath, and waited for what would happen next.

"Well, I looks like I have either mesmerised you all with my generosity, or you have nothing else to say. While on a personal level, the former is the most appealing, from a logical sense, I'll go with the latter. I am yet to decide whether you are the luckiest people I have ever encountered, or the opposite."

"Now, Mr. Daryvich, take them to a spare quarter-block, and prepare them for their trial tomorrow."

Lukas nodded, and ushered the group to follow him. The group began to follow him to the elevator, when Fat Dog spoke again.

"Good luck, and it was a pleasure to meet you all. Direct all questions from this point at Mr. Daryvich, and remind him to take off your handcuffs."

The elevator doors slid closed, and the group began to ascend.

"Now what?"

Yuri asked bluntly as the elevator slowly rose back to where they came from

"I suppose I'll be taking you to your rooms, you'll be sleeping there tonight. Tomorrow you'll go through what we call the trial."

Lukas crossed his arms, waiting as the elevator to ascend.

Lets get this thing rolling again.

"Very well, show us the way." Cyprus said after a short pause. He wasn't going to refuse the chance to nap, even if it was on a prison bed.

"I agree, sleep would be nice"

Yuri nodded, hoping that they would get nicer accommodations this time
