I've got to do a few motorway stints tomorrow, something which both stresses me out and scares the shit out of me. So come one all those Escapists who can drive, what are some good songs to drive to?

Good driving music tends to lead me to waste fuel.

But it really depends on my mood.
Up beat stuff is usually best.

Of course, you could just use the radio?

I always love classic disney songs. Although I do enjoy some folk music, like Mumford and Sons, or the Decemberists.

If you're more into rock/punk, I recommend Green Day or Rise Against. All some of my favorite artists.

When I was a kid I spent endless hours in the passenger seat of my mother's van (we lived in the country, she had a business, and when I say van I mean actual van, not minivan or MPV) listening to Radio 2 and her collection of tapes. I always associate stuff from the 60s (well before I was born) with driving music. The Beach Boys are great to drive along to, as well, as are The Four Seasons.

I hate the Radio. The best thing that's on is always Fearne Cotton or Zane Lowe talking shit for hours on end, I hate those 2 individuals more than anything. I normally love Radio 2, but I think there's a conspiracy to never actually have any music playing when I'm in a car.

OT: Thanks for the suggestions, making a playlist now. This might help me survive the people that are trying to kill me.

If you're still taking suggestions, the entire "Songs for the Deaf" album by Queens of the Stone Age is good (which makes sense because the whole album is supposed to fit the lead singer's road trips). My favorite driving song from that album is "Go With the Flow."

Just what I need when traversing my town and it's shitty roads in 45C heat. I find this song quite relaxing and groovy at the same time.
Maybe because the first time I heard it,...

Listening to music in the car will probably be the highlight of my day if I ever have to commute.

It depends on location, company, and time of day. Any music I like, really.

Sometimes I imagine I'm waiting for Australia to turn into a police state so I can listen to Police On My Back when it has some relevance to the situation. Random breath tests, more police on the road, swearing fines, street preacher arrested (I'm skeptical about the causes or arrest alleged by the amateur Christian law scholars, however), we getting there soon? <_< Not sure I'm that much of a brat though, haha.

You're awesome for posting Enter Shikari, although I must say I prefer Havoc B.

Well, Top gear proclaimed this the best driving song in the world:
I'm inclined to agree.
