Well, there is a combat overhaul, but I haven't tried it yet and can't recommend it.

What I do strongly recommend, however is this little charm:

http://witcher2.nexusmods.com/mods/2/?

It makes Geralt's hair as white as milk, as it is in the first game and as it is in the books. A must have in my opinion. Why CD Projekt went for a grey look, I'll never know.

What are your PC specs? Below is a link to a tweak guide for the Witcher 2, there's lots of great info in there.

http://www.geforce.com/whats-new/guides/witcher-2-tweak-guide#1
Here are my specs:

CPU: Intel i5-3330 3.0Ghz
GPU: HIS Radeon HD 7850 2GB
RAM: 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz (2x4 GB)
HDD: WD Caviar Blue 1TB 3.5" 7200rpm
PSU: Corsair CX600 600W 80 Plus Bronze
Resolution: 1920x1080
You shouldn't have any problems whatsoever playing it. I can't think of many decent mods for TW2, really. There is that combat overhaul but I've heard mixed opinions about it.

Based upon your spec's you shouldn't any trouble running it. My PC is very similar in terms of specs aside from a different CPU and GPU. Anyway the guide that I mentioned earlier does provide lots of great info as well as a set of great descriptions on all the different features and functions that can be played around with in the options menu.

I bought TW2 awhile ago during a Steam Sale, set it up but have yet to actually play it simply because I've been playing other games. One very common thing a lot of people suggest is to disable "Ubersampling", it's a VERY intensive and demanding feature that can really contribute to tanking your frame rate.

Lastly both PC Gaming Wiki amd Tweak Guides are two great sites to check out if you still have any problems or if you just want some more general troubleshooting tips.

Lol, indeed Escapist indeed. That's how I feel sometimes when I can't get my PC games working right.

I just started playing witcher 2 recently and after getting very frustrated with the combat, I got the combat overhaul mod. I recommend getting it, you also start with a ton of free skills and can level up very quickly which can make the combat very easy.

Here are the mods I have installed from whenever I last played the Witcher 2.

100 Percent Buy - TW2E-62-1-3 = Makes all items a vendor can sell always show up for sale, because normally the items each vendor sells is done by a chance to randomise the game each play-through.

All items added to Inkeepers-275-3-1 = I have this for debug/safety purposes, encase I accidentally sell a one of kind item I need later on.

Better Texture Environment-158-2-0 = Does what you'd think.

blocking_reverter-217-0-1 = Reverts blocking to the original release version of blocking, as the Dev's changed it. I like the old one better.

Cat Potion 10-193-2-0 = Makes the cat potion last a much longer duration.

Cynthia_Nude-119-1 = for some reason they decided to cover up a single prostitute in the game (the rest are nude by default) so this nudes her too.

Dynamic HUD-276-1-3 = makes parts of the the hud go away in and out of combat.

ImportedItems 3_0 EE-54-3-0-EE = make witcher 1 import items more useful for the early game.

Junk Dismantling-85-0-2 = allows you to dismantle junk into crafting mats.

No Dark Mode Effects - No Bonus - EE-221-2-1 = removes the sword curses/extra powers from the darkmode swords.

Pricing Mod-161-1 = makes the economy similar to the witcher 1.

Roche_Jacket into Raven Armor - for Gloomfrost-83 + Starting_Equipment_Model_Change-83 = together these allow my Geralt to start the game in Raven Armor (import item) and stay in it for all cut scenes (otherwise he keeps switching during the cutscenes).

Stats Improved-163-1 = improves glove status to actually be useful.

Vivid_Eyes-65-1 = better Geralt eye textures.

All mods came from Nexus Mods.

Here you go: http://redkit.cdprojektred.com/?c=mod&m=show&p=77

Also, to give some background on it and absolutely not to avoid breaking some arbitrary rule on low content, it's an overhaul mod that was made by one of the developers for the game. If I recall correctly, he used to be a modder and was recruited into the dev team for Witcher 2.

Alright. Also, is the game really glitchy? I see a lot of threads about how people keep crashing to their desktop while playing TW2, as well as a myriad of other glitches.
I've never really encountered any issues with glitches or crashes, so I can't say that it is, no. Could depend on your PC, though. I found it to be a pretty well polished game all in all. The first game had quite a plethora of issues and bugs, the second not so much.
