Slipknot, but I guess my problem is mostly with the fan-base(i.e. 12 year old kids who probably go around using the word "******" like a homophobic machine gun). But the music really gets in your head. Especially the beat. I like the way the singer mixes screaming lyrics with rapping. Its oddly catchy, which is strange for me since the last thing I want to listen to is rap(ok pop is worse but rap is not far behind).
Same here. The wierd appeal in the music, not the hating the band. Don't really know them, but I think they're alright... From interviews I've seen.
That raapping vocals being cool kind of thing, do you like Rage Against The Machine? I'm of much the same opinion, rap can die, but I enjoy those two bands. Dream Theater do occasionally have rapping vocals, but that's with the awesome music as well. So it's barely rap.
I'm starting to really hate Metallica. Which is a pity, cause they're an epic band.
Also Alice Cooper really annoys me. Anyone who's seen Metal: A Headbanger's Journey knows what I'm talking about. It's a documentary kind of thing, the guys actually an anthropologist, so it's not just some idiot with a camera. Any metalhead should look this up by the way. Sam Dunn, he's also done Global Metal and Flight 666. But anyway, Alice Cooper got interviewed, and every single time he managed to promote himself, and be wrong at the same time. First time the phrase Heavy Metal was used was 198X, about Alice Cooper? No. Most black metal musicians aren't satanists [does impression]. Wrong.
Yeah, he just seemed incredibly annoying.
