No order here. (and note this is just for consoles)

1. Battlefield Bad Company 2 (Best online MMS ever).
2. Gears of War 3 (If you have a few friends to play with this is easily the best multiplayer title this gen)
3. Bayonetta (Insanely hectic and fluid hack and slash game, Controls are a dream)
4. Fallout 3 (I had over 600 hours on a single save file in this game)
5. Halo 3 (Great fun and every match seemed to give you a new funny story to tell)
6. Metal Gear Rising (best soundtrack in a game ever, boss fights are sooo good)
7. Metal Gear Solid 4 (Epic)
8. Unreal Tournament 3 (I was insanely good at this game, got into the top ten in the leaderboards for a while, I could pretty much take on a whole team singlehandedly)
9. Mass Effect 2 (loved every moment of it, unparallelled atmosphere)
10. Dark Souls (this game is just an amazing experience the first time through, plus the boss battles really get the adrenalin pumping)

This is going to be difficult because I have so many different games to choose from but I will do my best.

1. Mass Effect Trilogy. Fell in love with the characters and the setting.
2. Dragon Age: Origins. Same as above.
3. Dishonored. Loved the setting and plot of Dishonored. Love the open ended mission choices I can make.
4. Fallout: New Vegas.
5. Alpha Protocol. Loved how what I did in one mission could effect or even be talked about in another mission or conversation. Loved the conversation system as well.
6. Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
7. Dishonored.
8. Batman: Arkham Series.
9. Red Dead Redemption.
10. Max Payne 3.

1. Gears of War trilogy. Not because it's the best game of this generation, but simply because it was the first game me and my brother got for our 360, and we've gone through it in coop together waaay too many times. I just have really good memories of this entire series, and as such I'll have to place it on top

2. Mass Effect trilogy. Don't think I really need to say much here, it's just amazing.

3. Uncharted trilogy. I've always had a weak spot for the kind of experience that Uncharted actually is, with globetrotting, larger-than-life adventures with elements of the supernatural. This game just tickled that itch like no other.

4. The Last of Us. Got it early due to a mixup at a local retailer where they sent out several copies as soon as they had been boxed up. 14.5 hours later I just sat in awe as the credits rolled. This game is simply amazing.

5. Batman Arkham games. Rocksteady nailed these. Especially City (IMO), with the adding free-roaming element still making me pop the disc in just to glide around and beat up mooks.

6. Dragon Age games. Yes, even DAII. I actually thought DAII was in many ways superior to Origins, but it did have flaws. I'm incredibly hopeful for DAI though.

7. Mirror's Edge. Everything about this game somehow just "clicked" for me. The soundtrack, the art style, the freerunning, even the fighting (especially if you're going for the Test of Faith-achievement). Suffice to say I lost my shit when EA finally announced a sequel/prequel at this E3 :D

8. Red Dead Redemption. Big GTA fan. Big western fan. This one really is a no-brainer.

9. Bioshock/Bioshock Infinite. I'm rating both the original Bioshock and Infinite as equally good. I loved Rapture more than Columbia, but Infinite had tightened gameplay and storytelling, and I appreciate playing an actual character rather than a silent protagonist. But I really can't choose a favourite.

10. Darksiders games. It's bloody Legend of Zelda featuring the Horsemen of the Apocalypse. And I really enjoy the artstyle too. Hopefully Nordic Games gets a good team for the third one, because I really want this franchise to continue.

In no order at all;

Mirror's Edge
Skyrim
Metro 2033/Last Light
Enslaved: Odyssey to the West
Red Dead Redemption
GTA 4
Forza 3/4
Trials HD/Evolution
Left 4 Dead 2
Sleeping Dogs

There's a lot more I'd rate as highly as some here, and I've not included PC exclusive titles such as Tribes Ascend and Quake Live too.

This generation was pretty weak game-wise. Here's ten that come to mind.

- Castlevania: Order of Ecclesia
- Dead Rising
- Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
- Halo 3
- L.A. Noire
- Left 4 Dead 2
- Modern Warfare 2
- Portal 2
- Red Dead Redemption
- Super Mario Galaxy 2

Honorable mention to Grand Theft Auto V. That would be on here if I got my hands on it.

All of my top ten (or even 20) games this generation have serious flaws, and I've still got a massive backlog to get through as well (six games in the ops list which I haven't played yet,) but currently:

1. Bayonetta - It's fun and it makes me smile for so many reasons. Dark Souls should be my number one, but it pisses me off after a while and Bayonetta never does that to me.

2. Nier - I'm still mad as hell that Squenix released this as it is. It's clearly unfinished and rushed compared to most jRPGs, yet it's the only jRPG that I loved this generation. I pride myself on being a hard man, but I cried more than once playing Nier. I went berserk when I finished the game properly and the loss was almost unbearable - you've got to finish the game without spoilers to fully understand the pain.

3. Saints Row 2 - I found GTA4 a massively over-hyped, unrewarding and boring game. Saint's Row 2 was like a return to the more fun days of GTA, and I still play it from time to time now.

4. Blur - a strange one this and led to the death of one of my favourite studios. Mario Cart crossed with Wipout crossed with Metropolis Street Racer.

5. Assassins Creed 2 - I genuinely hate this game, yet it gets into my top ten by simple virtue of it fixed most of the problems I had with the first Assassins Creed (which is in my top 10 least favourites.) I think it's the best of the series in gameplay terns as well as story.

6. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare - I'm not a fan of many FPS and military one usually send me to sleep, but I'm still impressed with this one today. Shame it's been milked to death and has terrible cheating AI.

7. Fallout New Vegas - if it didn't keep crashing (regardless of platform) then this would have been my number one. I've probably spent entire weeks of my life playing this game - perhaps months and I'm still not tired of it. Works well with my eyefinity setup too.

8. EYE: Divine Cybermancy - few will understand why the hell this is here, but I regard EYE as a masterpiece. It took me over 20 hours to work out the basics of this game (which are actually quite simple; I'm a dumbass.) No game has ever made me feel quite so powerful as EYE has, no other game I've played has made me feel as vulnerable as EYE either. It's an insane game, that's really hard and oldschool but so incredibly rewarding if you can get past it's flaws... and it has a lot of flaws. Now that I think about it, the only reason I got decent at EYE was my internet went down for a few days and I only had EYE and EVE online installed on my rig at the time.

9. Minecraft - I prefer the older versions of minecraft - they've kind of lost me with "the end."

10. Bioshock - It might sound bizarre, but I play Bioshock to relax - it is pretty easy.

Well, this where people are talking about their favorite games. Telling people that their favorite games suck isn't going to help you make any friends soooooo.... not too much of a conversation is going to happen.

I'm going to limit my list to large titles in the spirit of the thread (not for example, FTL or the Binding of Isaac), and also put games of the same series together (for variety):
1. Dark Souls (legendary. I could write a page on why I love Dark Souls)
2. Resistance/Resistance 2 (for thorough background, good collectibles and weapons, R2 for class-based co-op excellence)
3. Armored Core for Answer (Customisable mech)
4. MGS4/Peacewalker (Peacewalker was one of the best games on the PSP. MGS4 just well done, like every MGS)
5. Deus Ex: Human Revolution (mainly aesthetics, characterisation and universe, but also gameplay)
6. Skyrim (freedom, expansiveness)
7. Bayonetta (style, action, soundtrack - surprisingly)
8. Portal/2 (gameplay, humour)
9. Monster Hunter Freedom Unite (soundtrack, style, variety of combat options, intricate monster ecology)
10. Battlefield Bad Company 2 (class-based, vehicles, generally fun)

Mass Effect didn't make it on due to the atrocious ending and negating about the salient game mechanic. Pending Metal Gear Rising, haven't played it but I like Platinum and I like the OST.

I read them. But yes, the OTs are publishers in disguise trying to build individualised marketing profiles. Just kidding. If that actually is the case, they're hopelessly inept at using the data.
