There's a difference between people who dislike others just because they seem as jumping on a bandwagon, or as followers of a fad, and people who have followed something for near 20 years, are serious hobbyists with a healthy following and interest in not just 1 show, but the entire industry, only to be insulted for YEARS for having this hobby by a certain other group, and then, when this other group gets interested in FiM, get insulted AGAIN because they immediately started acting superior, arrogant, and aggressive.

So yea, basically, from what I've seen of the situation, serious pony collectors who have been honestly interested in pony collecting as a hobby and truly enjoy most of the renditions of ponies, from G1 to the new G4's, (except 3.5, GOD those ones were ugly, everybody hated em, lol) are just upset because for years 4chan would devote time to trolling their sites, ie: mlparena and the trading post, among others, and then suddenly FiM hit, 4channers latched onto it, and now instead of people trolling them for liking ponies at all, the bronies join these boards and start going on about how they are superior, and anyone who isnt a bronie or doesnt like FiM can rot in hell, and isnt a true pony fan, and all that kind of shit.

I can see how people who have had to deal with that would be upset......however! People on the other side, the SUPER hardcore oh well we ONLY like the first generation ever and that makes US superior to everybody else? Those people are just as bad as the superior bronies, they all just need to learn to love and tolerate the shit out of one another!

What the hell is a MLP Elitist? That's like being the spokesperson for a dressmaking debate club. And isn't "hate" against the spirit of MLP?

I enjoy the show and I make pony jokes with my friends and girlfriend. I guess I'm a brony. What about it?
Also this. Only instead of being able to make jokes, my gf and friends give me crap about it unless th joke is really funny. I found myself making MLP references in Dead Island and while watching Iron Chef, among other things. Especially when who I wanted to win did, and when I pull something awesome off in a game.

It makes me say,[sub]"Yay."[/sub]

Not much for MLP and all that, but in the same vein I found iCarly to be a pretty go-

They've found me.

They exist probably as a reaction to the popularity of the recent one. Perhaps you may have noticed that while friendship is magic is widely popular the original ones have a rather modest level of popularity mostly from people who grew up with them. These people appreciate the originals more. Generation one and 1.5 (my little pony tales) in particular. And while mostly everyone hated generation 3.0 and 3.5 it was something that wasn't so much of a problem cause it was still something contained by the original fandom (and new fans of those shows are too young to comment on the Internet).

But now that friendship is magic has come out and has lots of older fans it's caused problems for the orignal fandom groups. Now they are two different people all together. People who like ponies in general especially the old ones. And people who only like friendship is magic and are rather intolerant of the older versions including the originals.

This hipster thing you are referring too is a defensive maneuver as these people desperately try to hold on to and glorify the original my little pony while trying to dispatch the newer versions and there fans. There are some though that are trying to be loving and tolerant of all. These people simply want the friendship is magic fans to show respect for originals. But it's a real struggle.

Personally. I grew up watching any and all cartoons from the 80s and 90s so I actually like all versions of my little pony and I can even watch the 3.0 ones without vomiting or whatever people think they should do when they see that show. To be honest friendship is magic is basically the fantasy of 1.0 with the characterization of 1.5 with the cast of 3.0.

I would say love and tolerate them. Its their opinion and although it is different from mine, that does not make it wrong.

Eh, I'm neutral to it. I'll wait until the whole popularity dies down over it before I actually sit down and watch it. I've done that for a lot of series and it's made it easier to discuss them without people on either side of the fence going into an uproar. I'm actually kind of excited that they made a new series because I used to love My Little Ponies when I was a kid, and had boo-koo pony figures! I'm already on a quest to find ponies for my daughter for christmas. I want her to have things I used to play with, and it's actually cool-feeling when your child takes an interest or loves something you used to be into/loved!

But back on topic: Frankly, the elitists on either side piss me off because they make such a big deal over it, and it's stupid to the point that they come off as retarded. It's different strokes for different folks people! Not really something to get worked up over...

And no, I'm not talking about Bronies, I'm talking about those that seem to hate Bronies the most. There seem to be a lot of them popping up these days.

Those who swear by the original, and refuse to even look at the new series.

"I was a fan of My Little Pony before it was cool to be a fan of My Little Pony."
Why did the hipster burn his mouth? He ate his dinner before it was cool?

OT: I find that the MLP hate-dom is just about as bad as militant bronies. These pony elitists are still kinda bad though

This.
I had ponies as a kid and I still have most of them. [When I moved out, Mom threw out a bunch of MLP play-set stuff that would have been worth a shit-ton of money now. ^&*%#@*^$%^@%!]
I wouldn't call myself a serious collector because I'm okay with having one that's not in mint condition if I'm just trying to collect a certain group. [I've got 36 unmodified G1s + 12 that I've customized. I'm not trying to fill my laboratory with ponies. Haha.]
I was kinda glad to see them get popular again because it made getting bait ponies on Ebay a lot easier. [There was more to pick from for about three months.]
But I only do custom jobs with the G1's, I feel like the others are too small to work on easily when you're re-hairing them. [I also have a better idea of what things are worth so I don't mess up an expensive one.]
But I did watch the old show, it wasn't a favorite of mine. And I tried watching the new show since everyone was going on about it. It's really cute as far as how it's animated but I didn't think it was anything special. [Keep in mind that I got rid of my TV years ago and I hardly ever watch anything but the occasional anime online. I like shlock horror movies, but I'm really picky about TV otherwise.]
So I guess I'm more of a toy collector then a Bronie. As an artist I feel that the G1's make a lovely canvas for my ideas, and the ones I leave plain are just sweet nostalgia and also [according to my boyfriend] make my skull and occult book collections look somehow even more unsettling. ;]
