Delightful Frustration

Games can be diabolically difficult when they want to be, and the past few years have included some throwbacks to the days of Ghosts & Goblins. So, what games of the past few years was delightfully hard for you? Even single parts of a game can be included in this.

I've recently played Super Hexagon, and... I have SCREAMED at my iPhone.

You know, people have been dissing Assassins Creed for being too easy. However, I lost a lot of time trying to get 100% synchrosination on every mission. AC3 takes it another step by introducing multiple conditions during a mission without telling you sometimes...100% synchrosination adds difficulty to the game.

Anyone trying to do the "Chase Thomas Hickey" mission with 100% , without knowing how to do it, probably made a lot of swearing.

I've made that argument that Assassin's Creed is about as difficult as the first Super Mario Bros: while most of your actions aren't difficult to execute, doing them perfectly and getting the highest score is nightmarish

Bit. Trip. Runner frustrates me to no end, but I still play it. Perhaps, it's due to a magical feeling the game gives me.

I love Arkham Horror. Elder Sign: Omens is the closest I can get to an Arkham Horror game on my phone. I love it. But I hate it and it can be the most frustrating thing in forever.

FTL can be mad frustrating when the game just decides to fuck you over with this nightmare ship out of nowhere that boards you, instagibs your shields with 50 missle launchers leaving you over to the 4 shot Burst Laser to destroy you since you have no shields.

It's still fun because of the perma-death i think. Desperately trying to get the engines and/or weapons back online so you can jump out before you die is made more dramatic when you can't just say "oops, guess i'll just reload a save!"

Also winning a LoL game with a badass comeback is amazing. Frustrating since your team is likely raging and sending 50 surrender votes but still awesome. Just last game, their Kha'Zix was 17/3, the friend I was Skyping with was feeding the Gragas mid, our Fiddlesticks was more like Feedlesticks and our bot lane with me as Caitlyn was winning but only in farm and lane control.

I got all UMVC3-ish with my NEVER GIVE UP's. I've got too good of a match history to let it be tarnished with another defeat.

If I was playing anyone but Cait we would have lost I think. She has to be the hardest carry to focus with her slow that is also a pushback, her traps plus her insane autoattack range means you can plink away from the very back and relocate when they try to burst you.

I will say later on that I was permanently on full health in most teamfights. The focus... That focus.
