Voting is a right and an obligation.

Not going about taking part in the needed procedure to ensure a better future while claiming "neutrality" is akin to spitting in the mouth of society, which would be fine if there was another valid alternative to it, but there isn't. The future everyone builds is there for you too, be that in subsidy for videogames(Yes! This happens in some countries), public education, subsidy for science, repairing sidewalks, building new roads, funding for the regulatory body that makes sure the food you eat isn't poisonous, etc.

You could make the argument that since you don't mess with anybody you are just fine, but what you don't understand is that there is no way that you can be disconnected from modern ubiquitous society--it's just not possible. If you are not doing your part then you are taking up space, sadly.

The only valid argument you could make is that you feel ignorant and want to get out of the way for the betterment of everyone else; if instead you are being apathetic then we have a problem.

Nobody should force you to vote, but if you don't, you have no right to complain.

To quote Southpark.

"Why do I have to vote, All I'm going to do is decide between a Giant Douche and a Turd Samwitch"

"But you see Stan, Thats life, Sometimes you got to pick the lesser of two evils, Because voting is a right people died to give you, And if you don't vote, Who is really the Giant Douche?"

But still, I say "Don't vote for the lesser of the two evils"

Democracy is two wolves and a lamb voting on what to have for dinner, said Arthur Wellesley if I'm correct.

Despite not voting being a terrible cause of some things (I'm looking at you BNP).
Does BNP Stand for Beaten Nipple Pies?
Nope, because then I'd vote for it.

It's a racist organisation (British Nationalist Party) which we are allowed to vote for. Because everyone is disillusioned with Britain's current government people didn't vote much in the European elections, therefore allowing two BNP candidates to win seats in the European Parliament. Luckily the position is fairly useless, but if no one votes in the general election we might get - heaven forbid - a BNP member in the Westminster Parliament.
What always got me is you guys were willing to beat the shit out of them in the streets and throw bricks at them during speeches but they still got elected positions.

And to be fair, what if people don't want to vote, this picture is of the same type of people who fought the BNP harder than anyone:

They do deserve to have bricks thrown at them (at least their leaders - read some of their quotes, espeically those of Nick Griffin and previous leaders like John Tyndall), in our defence. I would much prefer that people voted if only to keep the BNP out. Every European Parliament election pamphlet my household received told us that we shouldn't vote for the BNP, so almost all other parties despise them, including UKIP, which is decidedly right-wing.

Not to be a dick, but your dad is an idiot. I'm proud to say, I didn't vote this last time. For many reasons, such as politics are corrupt or the USA isn't a democratic union when its only 2 parties facing off vs each other....your one party away from being communist. But my main reason for not voting is "I DIDN'T WANT TO VOTE!" (sorry for caps)

Sorry for being a dick again, but I also pre-assumed that your dad is a "Republican." Since such an act of stupidity to even argue vs the rights of free speech is something a Republican can do. Not to say a Democrats couldn't do it, but a Republican seems to be the #1 ass hole we all know. I quote from Family Guy, "Look Lois, two icons of one of the politic icons, an elephant and a fat white guy afraid of change."

My mom is very into politics and she's very Liberal and my father votes on the liberal party for 2 reasons 1. My mom is very into it 2. he likes their economic politic.
