I wonder if there were other politicians who could’ve been pressured into supporting reforms out of a combination of expedience and necessity thanks to mass movements. I wonder if there is ample historical evidence of the efficacy of this, while our republican traditions tend to lag behind the mob on such issues.

These guys have the ideology that democrats are worse than nazis since they are more progressive which means that no one will go further to the left while democrats are around. So they want republicans or nazis or whatever to totally take over because they think that will let the true leftists take over.
Alright fine, if Biden comes out and specifically renounces Richard Spencer, I might forgive him for courting the Nazi vote.
