Today...is a very depressing day. I did a french exam/essay last week. Thing is, I'm always stressed with 400 words essay. I can't come up with some clear ideas. That, and university teachers are known for being harsh on grammar and syntax errors.

The thing is that I have a very bad feeling about this. I'm feeling that things will turn wrong. My last week essay didn't go so well in my perspective. This essay determines if I'm going to get kicked out of university. I've been stressed since then. I can't shake the feeling that something is going to go wrong. I've always been the "look on the brightside" guy. I just don't feel that way today.

I took a relaxing weekend. I played a few sports with some friends. I had a long walk for a period of four hours. I bought some beer and drank a few. Finished 3 projects. I almost finished a joke-review for you guys.

In short, I tried everything to cheer me up. Somehow, it doesn't seem to work. I can't manage to get some sleep. Somehow, my need for tobacco has gone to "non-existant" to " I could sure use a Romeo & Juliette right now". To top it all, I have huge headaches.

I've been living alone for a year now. My family is not next to me to say "everything will be alright". It's midnight here. Therefore, all my friends are asleep. I don't have a girl around to wrap me in her arms and say "no matter what, I'll love you".

Right now, I'm just looking to prepare myself for the worst. However, I can't seem to do it on my own... I'm turning myself to you guys. I've been here for two years now. When ever I had the chance to help, I did everything that I could do. Today, it's the contrary. I need your help. I need some words that will tell things that I need to know... It's can be "everything will be alright or "You're just over-reacting". I just need to hear something...

Please...help me.

Everything will turn out okay, it won't be the end of the world.

I've been going through a rough patch myself, but don't let things get you down, your friends here and out there will be there for you if you let them :)

You'll make it through. Just take a deep breath, take one minutes breaks, look over your essay thoroughly when you're done.
Even if the worst happens, you're still alive.

Hey, Ram...I'm sure things will be fine for you.
This may sound like a bullshit statement, but I'd imagine that what you're feeling is just stress over possibilities.
I admire your drive, honestly. The fact that you managed to finish three projects and go out to do things speaks volumes about you.

[sup]...yeah. That was cheesy. Of the highest degree[/sup]

It'll all be okay. Why? Because from what I've seen of you, you're a concise and lucid individual, I'm sure that you've done excellently, don't panic.

The world doesn't turn out alright automatically, it's by human action, and by your human action in being INTELLIGENT, I can safely assume that everything IS going to be alright.

From my massive period of just lurking, and as a viewer of this site for slightly longer than you have, I think it's safe to say you'll be fine. Everyone gets nervous.

I don't know you, but I know that everyone needs a friend sometimes. For what it's worth, I hope you stop worrying too much about things. Everything works out the way it should in the end. The stress of school really builds up after a while, and things are bound to pile up sooner or later. You probably did fine and are just projecting your accumulated stress into over analyzing yourself.

If there's more you can do to help your chances, do it.

If not, try not to worry about it right now, because no amount of stressing will change the outcome.

This is something I had to learn myself, after a couple semesters of stressing so hard I developed a physical chronic condition. Stress is bad for your body and soul.

Unfortunately, there's not much I can say to help specifically other than "hang in there!" and "you'll be fine!".

Go for a walk and be out in nature for a while. That always helps me a little. If you can include fuzzy animals, do so.

And if you do fall, fall with style. [http://www.break.com/index/ladybug-flight-fail.html]

Everything will turn out for the better.
It will all be alright.

Here's a puppy:

Hey, you! Yeah, you! You're a winner, dammit!

You'll make it through this, and be better because of it.
You can do this.

Y'know why? YOU were born to be a winner. YOU were the fastest sperm.

You just have to give it your all.
Shouldn't be hard, you're a winner, after all.

Being worried is a good thing. Its a reminder that you are a human, with rational fears and rational expectations. Take a step back from the whole situation and view it from a third person persepctive, you may feel like your trapped in some sort of cold, unforgiving shell of a situation with one chance at making it a wonderful warm jelly pit of happy, but the reality is your just burdoning your own mind. Observe the situation as if you had nothing to do with it, and you will be able to startegise much better (I've found anyway).

I know how you feel, I'm jobless, single struggling actor and writer with limited prospects for my future, but being a black sheep does not have to be a bad thing.

Your surviving in a desperate situation is EXACTLY the kind of thing that proves a person has true strength and character, and it is THAT strength that will be able to carry you through your next obstacle, whether it's a university test or navigating a rocket powered velociraptor around Saturns aesteroid belt.

Facing an obstacle proves you have strength, and it is that strength that will allow you to face any test, university or otherwise, and make it your *****.

We all have good days and bad days, lately I've been feeling a similar way, though the situation doesn't quite have the same gravitas as yours does. The thing is though, life goes on, things might not necessarily look good now, things might not look up for quite some time, but I suppose in a weird way, something that has always comforted me has been the fact that once you hit rock bottom, you can only ever go up.

I, like many others, have dealt with stress, depression and sheer overwhelming odds to the point where you just kick back and think "You know what? What's the point of all of this? Why is it always me?", but you've just got to keep fighting through it no matter how hard it gets, if you give up, that's when it will overwhelm you and that's when you'll never be able to pull yourself out of it.

Take comfort in the fact that whilst your family might not be with you to tell you in person that everything will be alright, they'll always be waiting to catch you and help you back up when you fall, even if it's only in spirit.
The other thing is that I know you've tried everything to cheer yourself up, but don't stop there, keep going back and doing things, anything to keep your mind off the stress and concern, keep yourself busy and don't just give up.

I know it sounds cliché, but eventually there is a light at the end of the tunnel, just don't let the darkness drag you down, don't let it beat you, because eventually, no matter what happens, everything will be okay, even if it doesn't seem like it right now.

This is something I repeat to myself right before every test I do in my university.

I close my eyes and put my hands on the table in front of me. Ignore the test paper. Take a deep breath. Hold it in a few seconds. Exhale. Calm, relaxed.

Breathe in. I will succeed. I think to myself. Breathe out.

Breathe in. I have prepared for this. Breathe out.

Breathe in. I can do this. I will do my best. Breathe out.

Breathe in. I will do my best and I will succeed. Breathe out.

Open eyes. Do not look at the test paper. Breathe in. Breathe out. Be calm, relaxed. Then begin the test.

This always relaxes me and helps me focus. I would suggest something similar for you as well.

Do not think of the task at hand. Do not focus on the seeming difficulty, or the consequences of failiure. Focus on giving your best. A few deep breaths. You can do it. You will do your best, and it will be enough. You will succeed. You will overcome the obstacles. Calm, relaxed. The problems are not insurmountable. You will give your best, and it will be enough.

Then, focus. Now look at the problems or tasks ahead. Do not be daunted, they are nothing insurmountable. Piece by piece, overcome them. Keep the goal in mind, and focus on details needed to get there.

To paraphrase Lord Baden-Powell, founder of the Scout movement:

Do not fear the imagined difficulty of a task ; fear disappears when one sees the goal. Once you see it, keep your sight on it and fit the details to match the road leading to it.

I took a walk to get some milk. Somehow, I passed through 20 emotions within 15 minutes. I came back here.

Thank you for the comments guys. I really needed this. I'll try to get some sleep now. Somehow, dreams always makes things better.

If you think positively you might succeed or you might not, but if you think negatively, you will fail for sure. Just give it your best shot.

Awww...All I read was "poor me".
Not necessary

OT: I can't say much that hasn't already been said, but I'd recommend you just try not to dwell on it, and maybe do something with some friends. If that's not possible then just think very positively. Some people think positive thought shapes the world, why not give it a bash?

You failed a French exam eh, apart from smooth-talking the women what good will French do down the line (Obviously meant with no disrespect towards the French)?

I'll relay to you what a science teacher once told me, if you do badly on a test it doesn't mean you're worthless at a subject, you should consider it as a learning experience. College may be tough but one bad essay ain't gonna get you thrown on your ass...especially one about speaking French.

It's worth 30% of the final grade...

I live in a french region of Canada (New-Brunswick). My main language is french. My second is english. I'm in a french university who just happens to be more harsh than Quebec.
