Like a lot of the other escapists on here I have also suffered from clinical depression and they're right, if you're deeply concerned about it the best thing to do is tell someone. Truth be told I started off the same way you described but in that case it was food related so maybe a diet change is in order. Change to a lot of fruits and electrolytes. If it gets to the point where it's hard to get up in the morning (cliché but it was they biggest sign for me) then you need to tell someone immediately because it will start to go downhill fast. Best thing I can tell you from personal experience is find an outlet, something you can go all out with every time and stick with it, for me it was piano. Just remember, no matter how alone you truly feel you're not, you're never alone.

Do you have any moments of absolute happiness where you feel really happy? Do you feel constantly bad with moments of absolute awfulness? Is there a theme that keeps appearing about what you think about when sad (e.g. do you keep thinking about your academic failures? Your past?)? Do you self-mutilate? Do you consider suicide?

Honestly, depression is a broad subject so it may be beneficial to find out possible causes and deal with it appropriately.

I get that too. They say it can be caused by deficiencies in hormones or adrenaline, or by long periods of irregular sleep.

It can be difficult to differentiate depression from normal shifts of emotion. Try taking this depression screening to see what you come up with.

Dude, everyone feels like shit in their life. I feel like shit at the moment. The girl I (think) I love couldn't give a fuck, and Wales (the enemy) are probably going to beat us (the English) at Rugby tomorrow. Both of these give me deep, deep hurt.

But hey, do ya know what?!

Listen to this motherfucking song!

If that doesnt kill your depression, you may as well fucking hang yourself now mate! :p

Only joking!

Maybe...

Everyone gets depressed ever once in a while

I reccomend getting councilling, to get to the root of why you feel so bad, and then finding strategies about how to cope with it.

Is there anything going on at school or in your home that is stressing you out? I know what you're talking about because it is the same thing for me. I actually went to a therapist and now I'm doing better.
Not much in the way of stress, but my birthday was about a month ago and I'm sort of feeling like a waste of a human being. I don't have many friends and haven't had a decent relationship in quite a while. I feel like I'm just that "awkward guy" everyone gets a laugh off of.
Don't worry. The number of friends doesn't matter, it's how good of friends they are. Also, relationships aren't everything, no matter what people say. Lastly, don't worry about what people think, they are probably thinking of something else.
Yeah....there's that. I don't have very many of those either, else I would be talking to them. I should probably try and connect with people more.

I believe it is called "Chronic Sporadic Depression Syndrome", or something like that. I have depression on and off, so I know how you feel. You should try masturbating. I'm not joking. I read it somewhere that it can actually relieve depression, but I can't seem to find the link. It sounds stupid, but it beats the hell out of cutting.

I made a 22 on this: http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/depression/MH00103_D
