Mine is a filthy stinkpile from the 60s with walls as thin as paper, occupied by loud, inconsiderate tossbags who no matter what time I decide to go to bed, are always making some kind of noise. But located just 10 minutes from the city centre!

And yours?

My two bedroom place is five minutes from uni and five minutes from work. It's in the second nicest suburb of the city I live in and costs me (AUS $) 190 a week. I have a mate who stays with me 4 days of the week to stop him travelling 45 mins into uni every day, and he chips in 80 bucks for the rent which is pretty handy. I love this place, so happy I have it.

My Uni accommodation? A recently renovated set of flats right next to a 5-star hotel... On average 5 occupants per kitchen with an en-suite in every bedroom. Plus because it's college owned, it's cheaper to rent than it really should be.

University accomodation last year was reasonably nice. I had a nice shower/toilet about the size of a normal shower. I could literally sit on the toilet and be in the shower. Otherwise fairly standard cuboids, thin carpets, mattresses etc. But it was nice.

This year 15 minute bus ride from the Uni, sharing with two others. Lovely little house, as visitors say "it's like a real house!"

Very homey.

First year (Lincoln): Awesome, huge rooms (roughly 30x15feet, no that is not a typo), great flatmates and an entire floor of an apartment block to ourselves. More importantly good quality sound proofing, 7 stories up with enormous pane glass windows. Words cannot describe how much I loved it.

Second year(Loughborough)
Pretty much what you describe. Except my flat mates were in the habbit of being sick in the kitchen, sometimes in the sink but not always. Plus a room so small the only place to sit is the bed and from there you can reach evrything. The showers/heating didn't work and the 'staff' were more like the SA than anything else, aggressively trying to 'recruit' you into anything they felt you hsould do, the standing in the street doing there best to humiliate you should you refuse.
It also cost £1000 a year more in rent than Lincoln, it sucked.

Third year: Dunno, second year place gave me a nervous breakdown.

A nice, but slightly damaged room, on campus, right next door to everything. Literally, I could hop out my window, and within 30 seconds, be in either the gym or the cafeteria. Oh, and it's asingle, so it's just me.

finally a similar soul! (fix the spade) I too have a room where you can reach everything from the bed. I begrudge the lot of you with your en suites and sound-proofing. I share this dive with 5 others. We have one minute kitchen, one toilet and one shower between us. Next year I'm sharing a flat with my friends in the 2nd year (I'm a youngen). The thing that really gets me is that the owners of this place try every waking second to try and find some 'fault' so they can charge you. Someone had some tiny marks on their closet and they tried to fine him £25 for a new one! Lovely.

My room is a box. The kitchen is too narrow for more than 1 person to cook in at a time. Living room and bathroom are fine. Parking's good. I live with 3 women. Everyone is either a science masters or PhD student so it's nice and quiet. Cheap too, except I'm only a part time student so I get lumbered with paying all the council tax legible on the house.

Right in the city centre, not a bad a size. Populated by noisy idiots who, if not playing music at all hours on max volume, are screaming in the street on their way to and from the many bars and clubs. I don't see my flatmates very much as the layout of the flat doesn't allow for socialising, and the storage in the kitchen isn't really adequate for four people.

Other than that it's all good.

My parents basement, it is a pretty big room with a desk and a queen sized bed, radio, bookshelf, huge closet. I also get free rent and free food, as well as free cable and internet. And yes, I am in college.
