1. Bathory - Man of Iron

6. Johnny Cash - The Man Comes Around
7. Heidevolk - Saskenland
8. Sabaton - Back in Control

My book would be Nineteen Eighty-Four, I've read it more times than I have any other book, my luxury item would be a set of weights, it's a good as activity as any, and I'll need the upper body strength to move all the big rocks into place to make my 'HELP' sign on the beach.

Not to mention that the self esteem caused by exercising will probably help me stay sane, and most of the music there is good motivation.

If you are looking for something simular to Ocean Machine btw I suggest The Omega Experiment http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5L6jJlcgUXg&feature=related these guys supported Devin a while back and were actually really good.
I liked that track quite a bit, the Devy influence is evidently clear; sounds kind of like a blend of elements from Ghost, Ocean Machine and Accelerated Evolution with those sweet melodies, chugging riffs and keyboard stings. The layered (and possibly vocodered?) are a nice touch and that synth bit at 2:52 kind of feels like a downward spiral, going well with the theme of addiction that seems prevalent here. Good stuff. Also gave a listen to this song: 'Nokturnal Mortum - Valkyrie' and it was freaking epic. :D Very powerful symphonic arrangements, those bombastic percussion sprinklings do a great deal in giving it a sense of gravitas and really didn't expect the song to go all bluesy in the middle there, but it was a very nice surprise and that outro was simply beautiful. Really blew me away. Will have to look more into both of these guys, thanks for introducing me to them. :3

I realize that it's part of the spirit of the game, but I have to question why I only get 8 songs when I have an MP3 player that's smaller than two of my fingers which can hold over 800 songs.
In fairness, the concept was a devised a good 60 years before MP3's came into existence, they didn't really any means of foreseeing the changes in the way we consume media back then. XD Of course, you can be a smartarse and wish for something that would enable unabated access to music, but that's for one thing kind of cheating and as you say, it rather defeats the purpose of the game; that being to list what specific pieces of music/literature/media/personal possessions you hold closest, what they mean to you and how you feel they reflect on you as an individual. Sorry if I'm coming off as a bit of a dick here, I admit the concept is very easy to poke holes in when placed in the purview of contemporary society, but I am glad you decided to play along irrespective of that. :)

I don't think you were coming across as a dick at all. I also am not really one to be super-serious if I can help it, I just like being a little pedantic every now and then. Sometimes it's all I can do to keep myself from correcting people who type "should of" instead of "should have".

Also, to keep from being too off-topic, I would submit an alternative to my original number eight song.

[sub]I know it's breaking the rules a bit to combine "multiple part" songs, but they're just so much better when taken together.[/sub]

Actually I agree, I think that anything labelled in parts can be considered fair game as one entire song, particularly with something like 10,000 Days/Wings which are inextricably tied; flowing directly into one another, reprising some of the same notes/riffs/patterns from the first song and the lyrics continuing the story, it's pretty clear (or at least in my mind) that it's essentially one song, just that it's been split up a bit. So I wouldn't personally consider that cheating at all and very nice pick by the way, I do love that song. ^_^

Very Glad you liked the tracks! :) I Suggest listening to all of the Voice of Steel by Nokturnal Mortum, In my opinion it is the best Black Metal album of the last 5 years, not a single bad track on the album (with Enstrangement by Drudkh coming a distant second, which again is a band I suggest listening to if you already have not their discography,http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bp3zDtzS1CM They sound alot like early Burzum) I suggest you listen to Voice of Steel and then their first two albums Lunar Poetry and Goat Horns which are pretty much pure Black Metal.
