Reach may have some moderate success but in the end might just become another bland game with that will sell because the Halo name is attached to it.
Well, the beta looked actually pretty damn good, but what do I know.
OT: Whatever Respawn does next... At least I hope so.

I'm actually looking forward to Medal of Honour. Although I'm getting close to sick of modern era FPSs set in the Middle East. It's getting close to WW2 for blandness now.

I think whatever becomes the new best and most popular game, there'll always be those that hate it.. as with everything that is liked by large numbers.

Well MW2 has already lost a massive amount of steam already, as soon as something new comes along I reckon at least 80% of regular plays will leave. Most will go to Black Ops(at least for a while), a good few will go to Medal Of Honor, and another lot will go to Reach. I'd say 95% of Halo 3 plays will switch to Reach. Halo has its fans and everyone knows how good Reach is gonna be and that will be enough for most Halo players.

No game really has a lot of steam right now to keep players and to stop it being dethroned. Sure MW2 is top of the mountain now, but really there are way too many people fed up with it and looking for the next big thing. Same thing with Cod4 and WAW, although Cod4 was never as despised as Mw2. WAW did take a lot of people away from it. Most people don't seem to care who makes it, as long as its COD, it will sell.

And Black Ops is looking far better than any other shooter going in my opinion. I have a lot of faith in Treyarch and I have confidence that this will be their magnum opus. Most likely I will buy both Reach(not a huge Halo fan, but I like it) and will buy Black Ops and play the crap out of it.

I think TF2 should still be counted as being the greatest online shooter ever, no other game as old as it is (only FPS) has got as many users still playing it, or as many joining in on it, but I don't think black-ops will be any good as it's made by a different developer, but as the masses are full of morons who just see COD, they will buy it anyway (see success of COD 5)

Well, the publisher doesn't matter much. The game is made by the developers, not the publisher.
There are plenty of games there made by one company and published by another. Almost every Namco game that is made is published by a different company in 'Europe than in the rest of the world.

Perhaps we might see a new Commer arise?.
Doubtful but i love my Red Orchestra, your a big huge Star in my eyes Kiddo.

I always fancied the idea of a 40k Shooter, i really liked fire warrior.
You WHAT!? :p

I don't play very many shooters (mainly CoD 4 and Quake 3), but the new Medal of Honor looks like it could be interesting.
Dont you have any love for Red Orchestra's Crappy aiming or Fire warriors Blandness?
Its Fire Warrior. I must admit bland is an interesting way of describing Fire Warrior. Its not the term I'd use, personally, but I guess it fits.

Yeah but i played it as a kid and its permemently stuck in my heart.
also the manual art is awesome, Kais kicks ass.

What i would like to see is a new First person shooter that is W40k, in fact i believe they are making a MMORPG like that, with Space Boarding and Space battles!, Like a Gritty Battlefront!.

Hmm it game out october 2007 and I don't know how many players but I don't remember being blown away by the player-base when I was playing it. I don't have any figures but I bet games like CS:S and CS had large player bases after 2years 8 months of being released.

Sorry... lolwut? It'll still be Microsoft because, hey guess what, Microsoft owns Halo. And also, Activision are Bungie's new publishing partners, but only AFTER Reach.

Also, Halo Reach beta was great. Even if it is now 3 month-old code, I felt a lot of the magic back after the very slightly lacking Halo 3 (not being sarcastic. It had something missing but I can't quite decide what).
It is indeed Microsoft Publishing. Bungie isn't even involved with EA.

Also, enjoyed the beta, can't wait to see what it looks like later. I'm also interested in the single-player, which I've always liked more than any multi-player.

Frankly, Halo only seems generic because it sticks to the formula that made it as successful as it is. If you really look at things, Reach is a huge deviation from the current norm. "armor abilities" single-wielding, non-regenerating health, slower runs speed, different abilities for the multiplayer characters, etc. They've changed the Halo formula alot for Reach, and I think it's a good thing. I enjoyed the beta, but Swordbase was just an unfun map. It wanted to be prisoner, but failed hard.

MW2 is just too much of an arcade game. All of the COD games have been. I'm hoping that Medal of Honor is more than the Call of Duty Modern Warfare games have become. With DICE making the multiplayer, I hope it'll be good.

But then, the only real modern shooter I play anymore is a realism mod for Battlefield 2 on the PC, so go figure.

Black Ops looks too gimicky for me. I enjoyed the COD games when their singleplayer stories were even slightly possible. Hopefully Treyarch will do a good job. They've got it in them, I mean World at War was a pretty good game for its time. Nazi Zombies was a game mod that came out of nowhere, but was incredibly fun when you were playing with a good bunch of people.

So maybe... Russian zombies this time?

I think Black Ops has to first "not suck" according to the masses
as much as I like the creativity and effort Treyarch has (they seem like pretty cool guys), they still need to pull their weight and make something to compete with Infinity Ward's quality
but they are ambitious, especially so it seems with Black Ops sooo hopefully it's awesomee

Seeing as Reach's beta had 2.7 unique players compared to just the 800k for the Halo 3 beta, Reach will have no problem outselling Halo 3 and the online community will probably be larger. The new CoD Black Ops actually seemed like IW made it although it was Treyarch. I think most people trust (or trusted since alot of good people left) IW over Treyarch since the only thing Treyarch did that was good was the Zombie mode but that even seemed very limited (in my eyes at least). I think The new CoD would have a hard time even getting close to MW2 since MW2 broke sales records and that's alot of people to sell to.

I do think that Black Ops though looks like Treyarch's best CoD game by a mile just due to the action in the trailers (but that can be a lie) and the different ammo types. They have to live up to their own hype now.

Because people complain about everything they can possibly think about. If they find something that isn't exactly as they want it to be that's worthy of a complaint. Many games have different publishers on the different continents, and the changes are usually making it work with PAL or NTSC, there's no difference between the different publishers as they're only supposed to do the marketing part, the developers are the ones making the games. Does that make sense?
If that isn't clear enough. If you were to write a book and get it published. Did you write the book or the publisher?

Wow, I'm going to be pissed if nobody notices the new Ghost Recon Game. It won't dethrone any of the major titles, but hopefully it will get a considerable amount of players, because R6V2 is practically unplayable on some game types because nobody plays it anymore. A shame.

After the Beta I am totally pumped for Reach. It showed me that Bungie still knows how to make a balanced multiplayer game which they have not done since Halo CE. And after the most recent podcast detailed all the changes they were making post Beta I am even more excited.

As for Black Ops I dunno. I really don't want to give activision any money (Even though Blizzard will make me anyways). Treyarch seems to have gone their own direction with this one like CoD 3. I think the most important thing is whether Treyarch will be able to make the game balanced. The biggest problem I have with MW2 is that someone using nothing but a noob tube or knife can have just as much success as someone who isn't.
