so I need some help in making a decision I´m at the point where i dont know if Im going to have the chip upgrade or not.
I get the feeling it´s a trap but I cant stand the glich Im having now. It started in a sidequest and the whole screen turned to yellow matrix codes.
is it going to be this glitchy for the rest of the game if i dont get the upgrade? what hapends if I get the upgrade?

The glitch you're experiencing known in-game as "The Glitch" (how creative), is a very temporary thing when it happens, and it will occur at least once more for sure, but other than that I doubt a company would create something that would become unbearable to play through, in fact I would have preferred it play a bit more prominently.

Also, if you read even sparingly what the game throws at you in terms of logic, wouldn't you already know the fact that SOMETHING SUSPICIOUS is happening.

And if you read EXTENSIVELY, then you know their plan already.

I just had the chip upgraded, it didn't seem to change anything except during a cut scene and boss battle and the gameplay reverted back to what it was after I think 20 minutes.

I haven't found out yet, but if you have a chat with the rouge belltower man in a sidequest, it makes you think twice about just letting anyone tamper with your hardware.

Well the trap is fairly obvious so I don't think it counts as a spoiler. I knew it was an obvious trap but I opted to get it just so when those spikes hit I'd feel like a bad ************ for being the only one standing. Was worth it. The result from getting the chip upgrade was difficult but doable, and it doesn't have any impact of the outcome of the game, just the difficulty of one section.

If you do it you unlock a side quest that can net you some xp and an achievement I believe.
If you do it, remember to stock some frag mines for your boss battle.

Rest assured that you will not seriously screw yourself over by getting the upgrade, nor by skipping it.

Just make your choice and see what happens.

I actually found myself in the same quandary. It seemed like a really bad idea, given the circumstances, but I went ahead and got it. Consequences ensued and were overcome. Like i said, nothing too serious.

They don't pull their punches on this section, it can make the game uncompletable if you're not extremely careful here.

I didn't get it because it was obviously a trap.
Best response of this entire thread and my thoughts exactly. I found it rewarding to be keen enough to have NOT gotten the chip upgrade and then laugh when Zhao's 'chip-snafu-machine' didn't work because of not getting the upgrade!

Well if you like the idea of letting the people who want you brutally murdered and are pursuing their own anti-augmentation goals tampering with your hardware then be my guest!

You is trolling!

Dont worry, whatever choice you make it only effects you a little bit and doesnt slow you down for the end of the game...

Of course you should get it. It's an upgrade. You don't want to be walking around Hengsha with last year's model chip do you?

You should get it. It let's you shoot lasers out of your eyes.

Or you could play the conveniently located side quest that pretty much screams at you: "DON't GET THE FUCKING CHIP
