Wait what? Do you mean 8 praxis points? Because 1 Praxis costs 5000. By my calculation 8 Augs (Praxis) = 40'000

OT: I preordered the limited edition of the game with the "Explosive Mission Pack Content" (Tong's Rescue bonus mission, G-87 MSGL Grenade Launcher, 1 Automatic Hacking Device and 1 UR-DED Explosive) And so far I've only used the Auto-Hacking Device a couple of time. Also, you DON'T HAVE TO use them, the game just gives you the option. If it bother you that much, just sell the items and buy some crappy stuff to get rid of the money. Jeez.

10,000 credits enough for 8 aug upgrades? Last time I checked, praxis kits were 5,000 a pop.

Anyway, if it bothers you that much, just don't use them, I knew they'd unbalance the game and sully my enjoyment somewhat. You know what I did? I dropped them.

There.
Problem solved.

Pre-order bonuses have a bad habit of unbalancing games these days. They really need to make them purely aesthetic or just add variety, not give you super powerful shit that in the vanilla game you have to earn.

I never use them because it feels like I'm cheating.
How can you unbalance a SP game FFS??? You have choices. It doesn't matter to anyone but you and you have a choice to use or not to use. I mean sure in a MP setting giving people the uber weapon as a pre order bonus does unbalance things but in a purely SP setting it is up to the player how they want their experience to be.

When I got ém I just sold 'em. Plus, the tranquillizer gun you get does a pretty good job so no worries. :p

I did not think it was overpowered.

I liked the sniper rifle, but went out of amme on the first mission, and I've not gotten any more since that.
The shotgun I sold, since I don't really like using that kind of wweapon anyway.

10000 credits is only enough for 2 Praxis Kits, and I had nearly 20000 when I first visited LIMB anyway so it hardly made a difference.

All in all I found it not to be game breaking, but it is convenient.

Fun fact: I bought the retail version (Nordice Edition, wich is the "standard" Edition over here) and got "Explosive Missin Pack" and "Tactical Enhancement Pack" even though I did not preorder.

..That sounds wonderful, actually. But I'm one of those oddballs that doesn't have anything to prove and just plays for giggles, so making it easier is a plus for me.
Doesn't make it easier, really. The shotgun's terrible, the sniper rifle comes with like 10 shells (And you can't get more for a long time, until you can find the same rifle anyway), they take up LOADS of inventory space when you have very little. The 10,000 points are the only useful thing, and that's not a significant amount.

Dropping them would solve the problem I guess, but it's still kind of stupid just to put them into your inventory like that.

They could have just had some kind of thing where when you got the game you were given a unique code or something and whenever you feel like you jsut have to type that into the console or whatever and then it gives you the weapons. That way you can chose when/if you want them or not. That's how bonus weapons and stuff works in Guild Wars.

You unbalance a single player game by throwing the difficulty curve, and therefore feeling of reward for accomplishing things, out of whack.

I thought that was fairly obvious.

And if there's a 'choice' not to use them, then they are rendered useless to people like me who don't want an unfair advantage in the game. Which is why I would prefer if they were more aesthetically based.

That is why they are bonuses. I am not going to use the neon pink glowing armor pre order bonus for X game but I am not going to sit there and say they shouldn't exist because I won't use them. It isn't like you are out anything because of them. You were obviously interested in the game in the first place if you pre ordered them and it isn't like pre ordering them costs any more than buying them on day one. And you can't honestly say that even if it was just an aesthetic bonus that you would use it.

An optional piece of equipment doesn't break a SP game, the player does.

So, this has been the game I have been looking forward to ever since I the first trailers. I Pre-Orded the Aurgmented Edition as soon as I could, and I finally got it yesterday.

I was having fun playing through the opening, and talking to people around in Sarif Ind, then got in the Chopper to the first mission, really Excited about doing my first actual Level!
Then, Halfway through a Cutscene, a Box pops up says "Thank you for Pre-Ordering, Here is the Bonuses!", and it FORCED the most Powerful Sniper-rifle into my Inventory, a Grenade Launcher, and Remote-Mines, and says leter I will unlock an Automatic Unlocking Device. On top of this, I get an Extra 10'000 Credits (Enough to buy 8 Aurg Upgrades).

For a game like Deus Ex, this sort of MASSIVE Advantage literally Breaks the game, because it removes a HUGE ***** of the Challenge, and makes the early part of the game boring. I cannot play it until I find a way of removing the Pre-order bonuses, even if it means rebuying the normal Edition. The thing that really stings me is that its going to be mostly Fans of Deus Ex 1 that Pre-order, and they are the ones that are going to be heavily disapointed in how the Pre-order ruined it for them.

I only Pre-orderd, because I just asumed that I would not just get given the weapons, but I could buy them for a large price, or find them in hard to get or strange places you wouldnt think to look, like the way Deus Ex should be played.

What do you think about this?
10 Aug upgrades? My Aug upgrade costs 5000 Dude. I dont know which Deus Ex you played. I didnt get a grenade launcher. And there is only ONE sniper rifle in the game and guess what? Its sitting on a crate on a table inside of a room in the 1ST GOD DAMN MISSION anyway. Also, I found the sniper to be utter useless. On (Give me Deus Ex) Difficulty I got noticed when I used it, always. Anyway. And had to play stealthy in order to survive for more than 5 minutes, taking down targets from close distance to make sure I could drag them around the corner in time to avoid the patrol noticing it (Not to mention its uselessness against any boss/robot/heavy infantry). So I think I used 3 snipers ammunition before tossing it in a trashcan.

If you really got a Grenade Launcher (Something I havent seen in the game) Im pretty sure its either a rocket launcher or a P.E.P.S. If the first, its only really powerfull against robots which you wont meet early on so you might discard it for inventory space. If its PEPS. Well, the ammo for it is so rare that chances are you will discard it while you gather ammo for it and only have enough to use it by the time you would have found one anyway.

That's odd... I didn't get my grenade launcher till near the end. Also, 10k is only enough for 2 kits (the max you can buy from any one LIMB vendor) are we talking about the same game?
What this guy said... I got the Gamestop pre-order bonuses, and...

[ul]
[li]The grenade launcher is earned through the extra mission.[/li]
[li]The auto-hack tools must be bought or found in the world and are a reasonable proxy for the omni-tools from the original.[/li]
[li]I didn't get the credits.[/li]
[/ul]

It seems that other places got different pre-order bonuses and might not have integrated them quite so well... don't know, though.

... shiiiit, man. I didn't get any of those with my pre-order. Just a load of TF2 items.
Augmented Edition. And hard-copy. Maybe that was what did it. I didn't get the TF2 items, because I bought mine on hard-copy instead of Steam.

My point still stands. None of what you said makes me think any differently. Releasing pre-order DLC that unbalances the game's difficulty curve makes no sense to me.

Hmm I just got my copy in the mail today (it's updating on Steam presently). I'm wondering if I should activate this stuff now or wait until play through #2... I kind of want the extra mission though so I guess I'll probably just end up doing it and throwing the items away.
