I didn't upgrade specifically because I think everything that they're selling in the directors cut should have been a patch for the game.

They fucked up the boss fights ROYALLY, and rather than fix them in a patch like they should have they decided to instead charge money for fixing something that was clearly broken.

I mean really, what's next, charging to fix bugs and glitches?
The boss fights weren't broken though. They were shit certainly, but level design is not the sort of thing you change in a patch. It's additional content. They had every right to charge for it.
It's possible to VERY EASILY make the boss fights unbeatable by not having a lethal weapon, which most people wouldn't think to have if they were using a non-lethal class. I'd say that's pretty fucking broken considering Deus Ex is a stealth game, and you get to the first winnable boss fight about over 3 hours into the game, meaning that if you aren't carrying a lethal weapon you've just lost three hours of your life and have to start over.

But no, please tell me how the boss fights were in no way broken.
Given that you are just outright given your first lethal weapon and you gain nothing selling it, I don't know why you'd get rid of it. Hell, I got the achievement for a non-lethal playthrough on my first attempt but I still brought a lethal weapon along. After the first boss fight, I got wise and instead of the handgun, I made sure it was a rifle.

That's not a defense of the boss fights - they were bad. Just that there is literally no good reason someone would give up a lethal weapon which makes the move silly even if you plan on being non-lethal.

This would be true if inventory space wasn't a limited resource. If you have no reason to believe the lethal weapon is going to be useful the logical thing to do is get rid of it and use the space for more useful things.

I got the Directors Cut version for the reduced price, almost nothing at all with the change from selling trading cards. Like all the changes they've made so far (I'm a few hours in). The silenced sniper seems a tad OP though.

I own the DC already but haven't played it yet. Looking forward to another time through it, thoroughly enjoyable game, even with the misplaced boss fights. I'm glad that the yellow filter is gone...I had an add-on that removed it from the original game, but it was very GFX intensive and frame rates suffered heavily. Fully integrating everything into the campaign is also nice, though I don't know what this means for our chosen augments. The whole thing with Missing Link was that it took all augments away and let you put new ones back, allowing you to explore other playstyles by choosing different augments in a "controlled environment" as it were.

Does Jensen keep his normal augments now? Are they taken away and returned immediately? Is there an option at the end to revert to pre-missing link configuration?

For whomever mentioned poor looking textures...I can only say that it's a console game and that's just how they are. Another Escapist tried explaining to me about texture compression/decompression and that it *could* vary by platform, but I'm not sure how much of that is true, or at least the case with this (or any other given) game.
