Dammit, did it have to be Jensen again? His Christian Bale-as-Batman voice is irritating as hell, and he's just such a bland standard brooding video game character. Come on, Ubisoft.
Jensen was boring and broody but the supporting characters were decent. Perhaps this game will be the same.
Some of the supporting characters were terrific. Why not let us play as one of those?

Maybe let us play as Megan, forced into learning how to defend herself.

OOOOHHH How about Simons?! Let us play as young Walton Simons! Or Anna Navarre?
That would be awesome but still, I don't mind playing as Jensen too much and if we dealing with aftermath of his actions I suppose makes to have him back.

That gif is making me want to laugh at how stupid his built in sunglasses are again. I wonder how Sarif explained that one to him.

That wepon customization screen bugs me. It's hard to put my finger on it, but maybe because it reminds me of crisis 2 or because the scope is called scope 1 rather then it's fluff name. Hr did kind of a good job fluffing out their items. Like you could go to your agu screen and read about the augs that gave you regenerating health and such. It helped the game feel better. You know less like a game and more like a world.
It's funny, I had the exact same thought in the the screenshots remind me way too much of Crysis 2.

I love HR to death and I'm happy that Jensen is back since his VA is fantastic, but these shots give me a bad, bad feeling.

To me, it looks like the spent far too much time on the graphics. Everything is so slick and shiny. I hate to be a pessimist, but in modern games, it's all too common for devs to spend all the time and money making it pretty while neglecting and watering down the gameplay.

Granted, it's way to early to really tell, but I'm going to hold off my hype on this one.

EDIT: Dammit, I went and watched the Game Informer preview all guarded, and then that damn music started up and all the hype came flooding in.

*Heavy breathing* Yes yes yes. I KNEW Human Revolution wasn't the last I'd see of this bastard.

This is good. Very good. Don't fuck it up Eidos.

Why,oh,Why is Adam Jensen still around?
My only question so far. That kinda invalidates the only ending to Human Revolution that made sense for the character.

Though this is excellent news, Human Revolution was one of my favourite games of last gen. But I have questions.

1) Why is everything normal coloured? I loved the neon yellow glow everything had in Human Revolution.

2) What happens if you chose the ending where everyone died? I assumed Adam Jenson died in that ending.

Me too until I finally got fed up with it randomly bouncing around everywhere. So I put a bin under the hoop jumped up and just put the ball through the hoop.

Despite his gravel voice I actually like Adam, so I am glad to see him returning. Hopefully the ending doesn't suck this time XD

After Deus Ex: The Fall I was honestly starting to worry if we'd ever see another Deus Ex game again. Never have I been so glad to be wrong.

You'll all be infused with nanites by the time the 2070s come round if I have my way.
Fixed

Taggart ending is the only logical "cannon" ending. Darrow goes the Tracer Tong route of extremism.
I know this game is set in the 2020's but I was referring to the ending I went for in Deus Ex 2 where I infused everyone with nanites. I'm assuming Deus Ex 2 is still canon but I wouldn't mind if they retconed it out of existence.

Deus Ex 2 actually took an interesting route with what ending to Deus Ex was canon, it was like Daggerfall where they all happened at the same time.

It was worse than Deus Ex and Human Revolution, but it wasn't all bad.

Of course he was. Did you see what happened to him? I'd be brooding too!

OT: i hope its better than HR. I didn't like it.

Taggart's ending is realistic, considering Deus Ex 1, Sarif and Darrow endings are trickier. Though the "fuck them all, let's destroy this facility entirely" ending makes just as much sense, and is the one that allows a true sequel to HR, because you can assume that things went on without much change after Panchaea's demise. I mean, iirc, no one outside the area knows things went bad with augmentations there, and you could even explain the destruction by blaming Humanity first "luddites".

Frankly, I've always been of the opinion that some Deus Ex prequel would involve playing Manderley wiping out the Templars for the Illuminati's (or rather MJ 12?) sake.

Yeah, the Taggart ending falls in line with the original Deus Ex, as does the "Wipe Everyone Out" ending. Those two could be linked easily with Bob Page.

Actually, I took the Panchea thing to imply that the signal had gone global and that augmented people all over Earth had gone berserk. Maybe I was wrong.

Basically, I see the beginning portion of the story of Mankind Divided being (if Adam Jensen is still in play): Adam backs the wrong horse, thinking it's the right thing to do. He finds out that the people he sided with are part of a conspiracy (I'm fairly certain all the main players in Human Revolution were linked to Page or one of the other factions somehow), and he decides to take them down. But, wait, to maintain the RPG elements, Adam has been ordered by the government to have his implants switched to the "prosthetic-only" mode so he's no longer a walking weapon, and has to figure out a way to bypass the government's lockdown of his abilities. This would allow for Sarif and/or Tong to come into play to aid Jensen in hacking his own implants. It might be something like spending the first half of the game trying to run with few active implants running until Tong helps you hack the system and activate everything, restoring you to full combat/infiltration readiness. Otherwise, this game will wind up being like Invisible War where the only real development your character had was weapon mods (the Bio-Aug thing was entirely too dumbed down to be considered RPG-ish in my book).

God danmmnit! Now I'm going to have to shell out for a new console! Ah well was going to have to happen some time[footnote]Before anyone says just get a PC instead, my current rig is ancient so building a new one will cost way more than a console as I'd need new everything so factoring the monitor and peripherals it'll cost well over £600...So a console is the cheaper option at this point[/footnote]

Oh and to anyone struggling with getting through the boss fights with a stealth build then they all become ridiculously easy if you use explosives, 3/4 remote detonation explosives or mines will take them out easily.

I really wonder how they can transition from that to the state that the world is in at the beginning of the original Deus Ex.

Yeah, the trailer is kind of meh. But then, I kind of expected it. The trailer for Human Revolution wasn't exactly subtle either and it is only natural that they want to play up the awesome-angle of the main character for the sequel.

But they should know better by now. You don't need to sell DX as some kind of super combat power trip. That isn't why people love the series.

For sure. But this trailer isn't aimed at us, is it? When it comes to us old-time Deus Ex fans it would have been enough to just say "new game on the way, have this crudely drawn concept art" and we would still have squeed with joy. This trailer is to draw in new people, to create hype for the product with consumers that haven't engaged with Deus Ex previously. More specifically, this trailer seems to be aimed at the teenager and early 20's male gamers that are looking for cool action games. Probably totally misleading, but to the people who authorized this trailer in the first place that's probably not as important as getting good Day 1 sales.

... I'm sorry, that was a bit cynical, wasn't it?
